My buddy in TN has an '88 Jeep Wagoneer with an NP242 Transfer Case. He says it doesn't have any letter after the 242 like "J". Anyway, he cracked the tailshaft cover and needs another. I bought an NP242J from a '97 Jeep and sent him pictures of the tailshaft cover but he says they don't look the same. Can anyone tell me for sure whether these 2 transfer cases are the same thing?
