I'm about to replace my 249 with a 231 and i was wondering if the 249 shifter is the same as the 231 just with a differnt plastic piece where the gears are written, 4hi, 4lo, N etc... The 249 isnt far from being too bad to drive and i was wonderin if i could run the 231 with the 249 shifter short term till i got the right shifter?
