Tach install 22r need help installing

im installing a tach in my 86 22r and got it hooked up where the light works when you turn the headlights on. grounded to fender, but i cant get it to show the rpms. theres a red, white, green, black

anyone know how to hook this up? its a Super Tach II
 
Red= battery positive

White= light

Black= Ground

Green= ignition trigger, on the Toyota, there is a rubber capped green plug with a single wire near the ignition coil ( IF the truck does not already have a factory tach) This is where your Green wire connects, >DO NOT ALLOW THIS WIRE TO GROUND OUT< it can fry the igniter and will also short the ignition and not allow the truck to run
 
i have it all hooked up like that,, it might have a short or bad ground or something, the tach worked in the other yota.
 
still wont work, imma go buy a new tach and see if it works
