I have 3 tackle boxes, that I wan to consolidate to to one or 2 new ones. All of mine are are 20-25 years old and have served their purpose. Time for new ones.

What do you guys use? what style? do you have different boxes for crank vs. spinner vs. worm?

Whatcha got?

Have a box form spinners and cranks, then have a worm wallet for all the plastics

Got a backpack like this a few years ago. Easy to carry and holds plenty of gear.

Carry box. I have a lake in my backyard that I do most of my fishing in. And I'm talking about a box or bag for my bass tackle.

I've got a bag that holds 4 flat boxes and has a big catch all up top

I've got a bag that holds four plano boxes that also has a catch all up top and side and front pockets

I don't bass fish so the 4 boxes are mostly divided into

Pan fishing
Salt water
Weights
And a bigger no divider box for misc.

I can brim fish and surf fish from the same box. Probably not the cleanest easiest way but it keeps it all together.

Only thing I wish it did was hold it's shape when the boxes were out of it.

Saltwater: Soft bag w/ 4 Plano boxes (similar to several mentioned above). Hooks, rigs, rig-making materials, etc. separated into the various boxes. Side pouches hold my terminal tackle (in double-sided plastic stowaway box) and weights in the other. Front pouch holds knives, filet glove, pliers, etc.

Freshwater(Bass/Panfish/Catfish): Standard Plano 3-tray tackle box.

Freshwater(Trout): Various soft/hard fly boxes. One is for dry flies only. I keep my woolly buggers, San Juan worms and egg patterns in their own box while nymphs and other wet flies stored in another. Weights, extra leaders, tippet material, etc. just get thrown into a pocket in my vest or chest pouch.

I also have a separate soft bag w/ boxes for my fly-tying materials but don't know if that counts...

Soft bags with the 3600 series is what I use. I keep all of my boxes the 3600 series so I can mix and match all I want for whatever fishing in doing. I even have different color boxes for trolling vs stick baits vs bottom fishing, etc. makes it easy and the soft bags are pretty handy and won't scratch the boat

I am in need of a new one also. The zippers are all shit from salt water. For you it won't be a problem, but my bag is still in great condition. It holds 4 large plano boxes and has zippered compartments on both ends. I love it, other than not being able to close it. I can keep my saltwater stuff on the shelf and fill it with fresh or vice versa. That way I don't have to have 2 large boxes.

For anyone that fishes salt water, the zippers last 1 season, maybe 2. Either get a top zip bag (so when zippers fail, the boxes still stay in the bag) or a snap type closure. Otherwise with a side zip, all your boxes will end up spilling out at the most inconvenient opportunity and ruin your day because the zippers don't work. ;)

I like the bags and the ideas of swapping out trays for what I feel like fishing with that day. I just have so much shit. Quiet literally 10 lbs of shit for a 5 lbs bag. [emoji1]

I can tell you this much, if you have tackle boxes that are as old as you say, keep them! New ones you buy from Plano and flambeau suck royally. The quality of material used these days is terrible compared to 20+ years ago. I'm aware there are still good quality stuff out there with a hefty price tag but as far as walking into a Walmart and buying a good solid tackle box, those days are over.
For my own use, I typically carry a medium flat see through box. Every size hook for panfishing on up to large catfish circle hooks and appropriate sized lead weights, corks, etc. Im primarily a live bait fisherman anyways. I am a huge fan of beetle spins and carry enough to get me through a trip. I pre plan every trip for colors and sizes to use based on water clarity and time of year. I also keep a small pocket sized box with atleast 30 flies from floaters to wet flies. Panfishing with a fly rod is a blast.

Ya, I noticed the wall thickness difference when I started messing around with it. The quality isn't there. I think I paid about $25-$40 range for my old one 25 years ago. This new one was $55. I saw boxes getting up to $135!! And the quality wasn't better. It just had more compartments. But for functionality, this one looks to suit me and my style pretty well. I guess we'll see.

Not familiar with big boats or salt water fishing - what is the purpose of that top perch ? That's got to be quite a ride even on relatively calm water I assume. Beautiful boat. Do you do charters?

Referred to as a "Tuna tower" (some here in NC call it a deer stand) its purpose is to get an elevated position to better see large gamefish or schools of baitfish. Yes it is quite a ride on a snotty day ! We do not currently charter but have in the past, certainly something we would entertain again. Boat is currently in New Bern for some light work in preparation for the "for sale" sign.

Nice. Looks like typical lines of a classic Hatteras.

Id be interested in knowing the details of its for sale. Looking for a bigger boat but not quite sure I want a 60' boat. :)

I guess I know my sportfisher boats. ;)

I figured it would be priced well beyond what I was looking to spend. Didn't realize it was as new as it is.

Guess I'll have to keep on pursuing the older blackfin I've wanted for years.

I personally bank fish 99% of the time as most days are 3 mile treks minimum! I've tried many bags boxes you name it and have found the 3 ring binder tackle bags from bps are amazing for all plastics, jigs, spinners! I use no rust Plano snap boxes for crank and jerk baits bit to carry these things I use a hydration backpack from dicks that was 45$ it's great and comfy!
