After finishing a little refurb on my 94' pickup, I decided to put some Tacoma alloys on it, shown here.

I bought some mag seat lugs w/ the longer shank for the wheels

For some reason, it seems as if the lugs are backing off making the wheel loose. In turn, I tried to tighten them once more yesterday, only to break off one of the studs. I thought the lugs may have bottomed out, but now I'm not so sure. Then, I went to the store and was going to get the mag seated lug w/ the shorter shank. But the shorter shank lugs don't even go completely through the wheels. What do I do? Do I have the right lugs? If so, what can I do to keep them from backing out? Any information would be appreciated.

Not sure if this has any bearing on your situation but on my 96 Tacoma the front wheel studs are shorter than the rear. With aluminum mags the fronts just have a few threads holding the wheel on. Ordered 12 wheel studs for rear and installed on the front. More for piece of mind. Either way I have never had them work loose.

Edit:It maybe possible that you don't have the correct lugs for those wheels. Check dealership or someone with like wheels to see what you are supposed to be using

you gotta use the stock lug nuts.

i have a set, i dont know if i still have every single one, but if you want them you can have them just come get em they are in the toolbox of my diesel for no reason i dont even own a tacoma anymore.

Also, the lug nuts don't need to go all the way through the wheel. They only need to go into it. If they go all the way through it they will likely bottom out before tightening down the wheel.

Porterka, I appreciate it. I bought some off of Ebay, they came in today... haven't got home yet to look at them.

floydmorgan, the wheels are 15''.

The first set of lugs went all the way through, and they were indeed bottoming out, plus they were in smaller in diameter.

Toyota dealership wanted $6.99 a piece for them. Bought the ones from ebay for $15.50 w/ shipping.
