Hey i'm sorta new to the site and was talking to the guys up at Mars Fab in concord and they said that there were some guys on here that know a lot about tacoma's. anyways to the problem. My speedo sits at zero. Now i've changed both input and output sensors even the gear in the output sensor but nothing. although yesterday it did work for about 2 mins the speed was way off but it did work. Also there are 2 wires that are attached to the output sensors harness clip? but me and my dad could not find out what it went to on the wiring scematics. Any help would be very appreciated because I don't want to take it to the dealership if I don't have to. Oh and it is a 02 toyota tacome dc sb prerunner

Similar situation on my tundra turned out to the instramint cluster had to be replaced

Yea that year model is electronic, the older ones are cable driven. I am going to say that if you have replaced the sensors, then the instrument cluster itself is going to be the culprit. I'd search google and see if you can find that issue, it seems most of the time you won't be the only one that's had the problem.

well just about everywhere me and my dad have searched asked or anything has failed to produce any useful information. hence why I came on here but I'll def. look into the cluster though.

fist off bump
ok well we figured out the retard spliced one of the wires and they were just hanging off the truck. and when we would ground one it would jump but still hasn't fixed the problem so we put the wire back together like it should have been factory and it still hasn't fixed it. do you think we should ground it.

also is there anyway to troubleshoot a speedometer so I don't go blow money on something that might not be the problem
