89 XJ Went to leave the house and get stopped to being told my tail lights didnt work along with my marker lights and flashers. cant figure it out. i went through and replace the fuses and they just keep popping on the "park lmp" under the dash. has to be a short im thinking or possibly the flasher relay blew? i do have a cracked amber light on the front right where the bulb has been exposed and their is condensation on the socket for the bulb to plug in but i replaced it and nothing. my right front flasher the bulb has like melted the rubber housing so i cut and replaced that as well and still nothing. again possibility of a blown flasher relay? help cant drive at night!!!

i wouldnt think the flasher relay would have anything to do with the fuse blowing like they are the only thing i could think of would be the switch on the dash has to have a wire exposed to stop all the lights from work i would look for a bare wire before i done anything else trace all your wires from the tail lights forward and then the turn signals back

I had this problem on a toyota I just traded for. Turns out the ground wire for the taillight was tack welded to the bed instead of bolted so it was making a bad connection and blowing the fuse. Check your ground wire.

Yea, a blown fuse is a direct short power to ground. Time to start tracing wires.

unplug the flasher, do not replace it, and then install a new fuse.
If it blows instantly then you have eliminated the flasher...

The flasher is unlikely but I guess a scenario is possible...and this is a quick easy test.

ok still nothing i tried the old paperclip in place of fuse trick and all it did was catch fire hha so i upped the fuse from a 10 to a 30 and its not blowing the fuse and is getting power now but the only thing not getting power is the front right marker light

Hence the need for FUSES! Don't defeat the safety devices! Where did it catch fire? That might be where your short is.
