I finally got my Jeep to where it's ready for it's virgin/shakedown run and I'm wanting to take it to URE this weekend. I've never been to any of the trails around there and was hoping there'd be a couple guys willing to take me around and show me how this URE thing works. read:"help me when my jeep explodes on the trail" :) I'm not sure where there's the best place to set up for the night or what I really need out there besides parts and tools. I'll be driving a 00XJ with about 5.5 of homemade lift on 35's, spooled hpd44 and 9" with stock 3.55 gearing (until july), with about 20" of wheel travel, so I'm not exactly stock. Just looking to get there and stretch the legs a little and see what she'll do. I plan on leaving after work to make the 5 hour drive and being there Fri night. Let me know if anyone's interested. Thanks.

I might be out there this Sat, PM we can see about meeting, time. ect. This will be my second time going.

Some of us from wheelindixie.com will be up there camping on the trail friday night and ride saturday. Some K5's, Sammys and a Rubicon...

awesome! appreciate everyone's responses. What's the best place to stay at around there? I saw Bidan campgrounds and that I can stay trailside for free too. What do most people do?

Unless your staying with a very large group, Arrowhead campgrounds is the usual spot to stay. If there is no space there you can always check the Badin Lake Group camp. I would reserve a site online (if there are any left) before going up this weekend.

Online Campsite Reservations @ Recreation.Gov

They have 2 first come first serve sites, but I wouldn't rely on them being available, unless all the other sites are reserved online all ready.

thanks, appreciate that, I found a bad wheel bearing today going through the jeep, not sure if I'll be making it out this weekend. If not this weekend, then next for sure.

Ah, I hate that. I just had to do mine this past weekend. Would you believe that no one in the surrounding four counties had the inner wheel bearing for a 1973 D44? Good luck to ya!

There is a Poker Run next weekend (the 20th) with free camping at group camp and there will be a trail leader as well. You're more than welcome to join.

thank you, I'll try and get out there next weekend too. Depends if the Jeep doesn't self destruct on me.

Looks like I'll be going this weekend for sure. I'll be up there sat. morning instead. I'll be in this thing:

Big thanks to jeremy1977 for giving me a hand.

Hey Jeremy, can't thank you enough for getting me out there and showing me around! First trip to URE was a pretty good time. Still can't believe the Jeep handled about everything we threw at it. Steve and David, it was nice to finally hook up with you. Thanks again for the shafts. Thanks to 96tacolx for getting me those leaf springs from 99XJ. All in all had a blast for my first time out, just have a couple things to take care of on the Jeep. Thanks to mallcruiser for showing me my p/s spring was trying to jump ship. I plan on getting out there for the entire July 4th weekend if anyone's interested.

Jeremy I checked out your youtube videos, sick man. . . I'm pumped to get out to callante. did you get any video of your hammer trip?

I'm up for Mtn. City. I'm trying to get my pics up but photobucket is being :poop:. Great to meet you guys, hope to wheel with you again.

Hey Whit. are those the radius extensions you bought from me? Looks good man!

Man I can not wait to get back and fix mine so I can go play again. Nice pics fellas. I will be back next week for my R&R of two weeks. I can't wait to see more pics.
