Apparently I’m gettin soft in my old age... lol I’m a backwoods raised by my ma kinda guy so women, kids and pets seem to be my weakness now that I don’t live the outlaw lifestyle... lol but even back then I still had that weakness but I didn’t give a damn about anything so was irrelevant! But now I see things differently! I’m sure his wife had no clue he was gonna Runinside and grab a gun and start firing at me tho and unless he came closer and continued firing there’s no way I’d risk hittin a innocent person if I could help it!

Well those thoughts went through my head but I decided not to go on the offense, my mind went into KOCOA instead bc I wasn’t sure what I was up against at that point! My grandpa burnt a few things in my head that I’ve used maybe not so gracefully in this situation given the surprise attack tho... but happened in the right order anyway lol

Sorry but no I haven’t made it there yet plan is tom afternoon I have a extremely busy schedule pulling doubles and doing side work after work to try and make up all the money spent in last 2 months on vet bills! He’s not a priority at this point honestly it’s a concern but I have to do what’s important to keep my family going! We have a routine with a baby in the house and I’m depeded upon so I can’t just go after work. Soon as I go I’ll update with what they say tho!
 
I would tread carefully. At this point going back out to your shooting range and doing what you normally do could be considered baiting him into confrontation

Yeah I’m gonna go to magistrate then continue my normal weekly routine I refuse to let him keep me from my personal training and teaching our kids and my nieces how to use firearms safe and effectively! I’m putting up shooting boxes out of 3/4 plywood I had for my burb pole barn walls in direction of his place at our main target area after all is said and done! I may even use some stall mats against em as a buffer just to have cover in case something happens again so I dont have to move to better cover I can stand my ground from that position if need be! Hopefully they set him straight I have a buddy that’s a state police officer coming over Thur or fri tho to Check my part out but I’ve went over all laws and ordinances multiple times I’m in my rights on my property! I’ll get it straightened out and if he has to spend a few days in jail I guess I’ll send ole lady up to check on his wife or her aunt who’s lived below them most of her life, just bc I’m a nice/soft guy... nowadays

Keep in mind ^THAT^ is the *maximum* penalty for that specific charge, once deemed/proven guilty...

Being a new VA resident and subscriber to the local rag (county newspaper)... we flipped after seeing the number of folks getting a basic "free pass" (pay court costs/fines, time served, other menial wrist slaps, etc.) for a host of criminal shit :rolleyes:

As stated... "I was in fear for my (family's) life"... "I'd like to speak with an attorney"...STFU

At this point it will be a legal matter for the courts. Go all in.
You are not just protecting yourself, but your family also.
Also go after the responding officers/department for not doing anything.
Regardless of how you feel, IMHO it was attempted murder.
That is a threat that needs to be stopped, plain and simple.

i haven't read all the post so this may have been covered. How much property do you have? how far are you shooting from his house and the direction? is he getting the report funneled to his house making it seem louder than it is or that you are firing towards his house? ( i realize your not but it may sound like it from his house) is there any ordinances that would say you couldn't shoot? i would file with the court make sure your 100% legal and then shoot again. have any cop friends invite them over to shoot with you. if you are shooting at dark or later i can see him being mad but if it is early afternoon or weekends than i see no problems. maybe go talk to your other neighbors and see if they feel the same way as the old man, but haven't said anything to you.
 
So just left magistrate office they were no help basically until I talk with the officer or someone above him which I’ll be doing, to see if they are doing anything about it or if I have to file for reckless discharge then they’ll investigate further into it... smdh officer said the magistrate would be able to pull up the info he said no he would have needed to fax it to me! Wtf
I also just got off phone with my buddy in game warden service he explained to me that when ballistics are done likely he will get a felony with possible attempt murder and guaranteed reckless discharge said it could go a few diff ways depending! Yeah so I’m calling sheriff tom to see what they are doing if nothing then I’m going to file the charges for reckless tom and they said it’ll issue a protective order against him Also! I’ve sat and thought on this a lot and I’m starting to not be so sympathetic over the situation bc he had no regard for human life imo and someone like that I should have damn ended truly but I bitched on it and did what my instincts told me to do which I can’t say if it was wrong or right, just what I was taught I suppose. That old Sob don’t realize that nov 29 2018 was the luckiest day of his life... I’ll keep updated on how this pans out tho! Thanks for input and insight fellas!

Really my concern was drawing his fire toward me if he continued bc I knew Amanda had just rode down to get youngest boy off the bus and had no idea if they were outside or if he would turn and fire at them! It’s a tough spot to be in not gonna lie I’ve returned fire once in my life and that was simply for suppressive fire to get the hell out of dodge ria .45acp is no match for sks obviously lol... I was younger then and didn’t give a damn about outcome tho I just needed to get us out of there! This scenario was much different so I took defensive measures! Shit happened quick too first shot at 4:13 second shot was 4:14 he moved roughly 25yards closer from what I could make out I was too busy reloading to have constant watch on him just knew I needed cover and mags had my head on swivel looking at him the. Back at the house to make sure none of kids were out back or coming my direction!?
