taking out carpet

Tearing the carpet out of my 4runner. What is the easiest way to get the gummy pad up that is under the carpet?

heat gun and scraper is what I used, Brake cleaner got the residue

cool....I was wondering if they make some sort of scraper that's heated, like a hot knife?

I saw on one of the automotive shows on TV where they covered the stuff w/dry ice, waithed for the tar to harden, then broke it out w/a hammer.

if you let it sit in the sun on one of these ridiculously hot days it will get really soft. It's pretty easy to get up with a putty knife and then get the residue with brake cleaner.

I was wondering the same exact thing. Bout to pull mine out of 4runner also.

Heat gun and gasket scraper worked like a champ! It still
took most of the day to do it but worked well.
