Talk me out this XJ!

So my neighbor has a 2001 XJ with around 160,000, it's bone stock, decent tires, and cosmetically pretty good for an 01. The only issues are sagging headliner, and it needs struts for the hatch. My reservations are the low pinion 30 up front, and I believe it's a 35 in back. He's asking around $2500. It was his daily driver up until a few months ago. Somebody tell me the negatives of an 01, and why I shouldn't buy it cuz I damn sure don't need it but it's staring at me everyday.

I agree. Depending on level of friendship maybe negotiate a hundred bucks or so.

Some new cooling components and junkyard axles will correct those issues.

Buy it. Worry about these questions later.
You're supposed to talk me out of it.

It's got a cracked cylinder head. Ok so maybe not, but it will.
Is this a common problem for 01's? The last XJ I owned was a 91 about 15 years ago.

Yeah, the 00-01s had the 0331 head which was prone to cracking. We very rarely get a 4.0L in here with a cracked head, but if we do, it is always an 00-01.

It's not convertible.
