Target cybercrime

We did, our bank automatically cancelled and sent us new cards.

My in-laws neighbor had his info stolen during the Target deal. They made a fake debit card with his pin and were shopping all over town with it, I think somewhere in TN. Bank found it strange that they were using the same card in Rocky Mount and TN at the same time and called him about it. It was weird, they were buying gas, $35 at Walgreens, $25 at Walmart, etc. Piddly little charges, guess hoping they would go unnoticed.
 
My card expired and was replaced 3 weeks ago, is that the same as canceling it? update I just heard addresses and names were stolen also and target is offering free credit monitoring to affected customers for 3 months. It won't be available till next week,according to their website

My bank sent a new card with new number. Kind of nice since the last one was wore out. I would guess that a new expiration date would make the stolen card invalid since they would need that to make another card.

If the card number is the same, the date really doesn't matter.
