For my 21st birthday, Im being taken out to a couple bars and just having an all out bash but before all that, I am going to get a tattoo. I have been thinking about what i would get for the past 3 years and im getting part of a quote written at the top of my back right below my neck, that will read "When Broken Is Easily Fixed" in cursive and in all black. not very big maybe something like 1.5" by 12" anyone have any idea how much this would run me? no color, just plain old cursive writing with no shading or anything.

Be very particular of who you get to do this. Don't go when you are drunk, and if the tattoist looks high or drunk, walk out. As far as price, I don't have any large writing on me, just designs and some small words in ome of the designs. My guess would be around $150 for a good tattoo artist, it really depends on their skill and the demand for their services. Good Luck!

I'm sure you've thought long and hard about this, but what about changing the phase to "Easily fixed when broken".
Fewer letters (thus space and $$) and (I think) more gramatically correct. Just a suggestion.

oh yeah, Im DEF going before the partying starts. Because knowing me, id wake up with a big penis tatoo or a tattoo on my lower back that says enter here with an arrow pointing down. But just wanted to kind of get an idea of what it was going to cost.

Well because its part of a quote that goes "So ironic, that a heart made by man, when broken is easily fixed, but a human hurt can last a lifetime" so if i switched it, it wouldn't be the same.

IF (and just if)... I were at say the beach and I saw a dude w/ the tattoo When Broken Is Easily Fixed on their back I'd think either:

1. guy was drunk when he got it
2. artist screwed up and wrote it bass-akwards

But if it has meaning, by all means go for it....

Bawhahahahaha!!!!

Now your Chris right?
If so, I have alot of respect for you, because I loved your XJ build, But how is "When Broken is Easily fixed" bass akwards? First off, I didn't write the quote, second, nothing about those words are grammatically incorrect. Also, that's the beauty of a tattoo, some tattoos have no meaning to anyone but the person who has it. For me its about my mom and all the shit that she went through when she was sick in the hospital.

Now that is a good reason to get a tattoo. I like it when people go get a tattoo for a reason and it means sometihng to them. I am not a fan of on a whim, going to a tattoo shop, and just picking something off the wall. to you for thinking this one through

most definitely! one of my buddies from hs got this "wicked deal" on a tat that ended up costing him several hundred $ to get fixed. the guy who did it was a friend of his' older brother who is a certified or tattoo artist, but he was coked out of his mind during one of the sessions. lol. that thing was wayyy f'ed up! ahahaa! it was really funny to my other buddies and i because we told him not to get the damn thing but he insisted.

because the way most people would say this, is: "is easily fixed, when broken"
which makes yours seem ass backwards unless you can read the rest of the grammatically incorrect quote

OK are any of the sentences grammatically correct?
We that are true lovers run into.
Et Tu, Brute!
Oft Expectations fail, Most oft there.

Because these were all written by Shakespeare.
Anyways, we can all sit here and talk about how that part should or shouldn't be written, was just wondering on current tattoo prices.

That's me...

Like I said, if it has meaning, go for it...

Also, Silverstein is no Shakespeare...

Maybe you should throw a comma in there "When broken, is easily fixed".... just kidding :flipoff2:

I agree with Clay, well thought out and means something to you, that's why you're doing it, not to impress some guy on the beach :) I've always been partial to MoM but it's your bod, your call!

get what you want.......

you will be the one who has to explain/deal with it.

If it has meaning then you really shouldnt change the wording even if its incorrect, somebody in this world will know what it means if its a famous quote.

in my opinion, people will think that the artist messed up.

I dont have any tats but my buddy got an awesome one and it only cost $200 because it came out so well and the artist wanted to take a bunch of pics so he hooked him up.

I think what you need to seperate in your head is what the whole sentence means to you, as the whole thing is written - and how other people will see just this fragment as it is written.
someone standing behind you will see only that sentence fragment by itself. They will most likely not know this quote, nor be reminded of it. Nor will they know your mother and understand the meaning there.
As a result they will see it and think, WTF? that is poor grammar and makes little sense.

Reworded, the meaning might be more aparent. That is all I am suggesting.
So the question for you is really - do you care what other people think when they read it? If not, ennjoy. Also, do you want to have to explain this? If so, great. Assuming you are asked about it, maybe this will give you the chance to to give the whole quote and explain its meaning to you. If you think you might get tired/annoyed with this, well...

Please note, I am not discouraging you from this or any tatoo.

I dont know about in Greensboro, but here just wording in black & grey $50-100. Then you have to price shading, script, and size. Good luck.

Also get what you want, but think about if you can add to it because its an addiction:beer:

Drinking before/after getting a tat is not a great idea medically or for the tat. Can't believe that hasn't been thrown out there. But I say if you want it get it. Just remember your not 21 forever. I have a tat I got when I was 16 and if I had to look at it daily Id wonder wtf I was thinking. I got one when I was 23 that I love to every day

BINGO...Id be worried about bleeding it out personally.

I actually think the unusual nature of the phrase adds to the unique/coolness factor and will probably encourage plenty of "hey man whats that about" conversations.

basically I have found 4 schools of thoughts on tatoos

1) HOW Repulsive, he has ink in his skin. I dont care i it is a picture of baby Jesus and he spends all his time and money doing charriy he is going to hell

2) big deal a tat...doesnt say much about the person either way

3) Hmm ink. Wonder the meaning, if its personal thats cool, but dolphins and looney toons characters are ghey

4) Pussy, I still see skin. you need more ink
