Anyone know a good (and fair priced) taxidermist for a fish within 40 - 50 minutes of Lincolnton?

My 5 year old caught a 21" Large Mouth Bass today, we're looking into the possibility of having it mounted. Currently my best price is $210 ($10 per inch), but I wasn't exactly planning on dropping 2 bills on a dead fish. If that's what it takes then so be it, just looking for options.

Ill have to look up the name again, but there was an older man that did it out close to west lincoln high school off i believe its west winds road. Hes done several deer heads for me and my dad and he always has some fish in there too and seems to do good work from what i can tell, have no idea about prices but would be worth a try.

Please do, that would be awesome. I live less than 5 minutes from there.

Ask and ye shall receive.

Andrew, 5 years old, with his. He caught it all by himself, except for picking it up out of the water:

Between me, my dad and my brother, we have had A TON of taxidermy work done. Some that turns out looking like crap, some that looks amazing. If anything else, i have learned taxidermy is one of the biggest things the phrase "you get what you pay for" fits right with. For example, my dad had a deer mounted for $185, looks HORRIBLE after a couple years. He had one mounted for $255, looks a little better, but not good. Then we found a guy that has what most people would say, ridiculously high prices, but he does amazing work, and guarantees all of his stuff 50 years. I paid $575 last year to have a deer shoulder mounted, with a piece of driftwood beside with vines and leaves and junk on it, and the feet mounted on a piece of oak. My wife crapped a prius, and everybody said I got ripped. But it's a competition quality piece of work. And Ill take everything I kill to him to have mounted. I will pay high prices to have good taxi work done. A guy that charges cheap prices aint gonna put a lot of time and effort into cuz he has to make money too. Spend the extra money, so your son can show that fish to his son or grandson. Just my thoughts.

I've thought about that too yoder, I just don't seem to have a ton of options that are local to me, and most are in that range. I had one guy tell me between $225 and $250. $250 is the highest, so saying $210 is the cheapest isn't really saying a whole lot. I do want this fish to last though, it is quite a whopper for his first fishing trip.

I've got a buddy at work that does taxidermy as a hobby...not a business, but he gets a ton of work via word of mouth. He's done everything my family has needed for the last 5 years. As a reference, my little bro caught an 8lb 20" bass, it was in the freezer for 4 years until he remembered he had it. Brought it to my buddy, he did for $100...the fish is still gorgeous 2 years later. Like I said, he does this as a stress relief and hobby, not in it for the money. Downside for you, we work in Winston.
