my dad keeps a 1991 Chevy 1500 p/u (2wd) automatic at the house in Arizona. When they aren’t there the neighbor comes and starts it every couple of weeks and let’s it idle for a while (operating temp) and once a month drives it down the road and back to keep things moving. This past fall the neighbor called my dad stating that the truck won’t come off high idle. When my folks arrived about 5 days ago same thing. Start it, warms up and stays about 350-400 rpms above the factory idle point. It doesn’t go away and hits pretty hard going into gear. Also, when slowing to say a stop sign or light it tries to drive through the brakes. Any idea what may be causing the high idle. Not sure on mileage but can ask. He has a “rebuild kit” for the tbi assembly just hasn’t dug into it. He checked and the throttle is coming all the way back to the stop. It doesn’t run bad just idles too high. He looked and can’t see where you can adjust the throttle stop screw. I’m unfamiliar with this setup so any help would be great. Thanks.
