TBI conversion running rich TBI gurus wanted

are you using an efi dizzy??

found a guy that says he can llok at the jeep while its running then create a custom chip for $250, is that a decent deal. Thanks

I know the chips from Affordable Fuel Injection, where I got mine, are $95, but those are programmed to the harness you order or to your specifications of what sensors you will be running with you old harness, etc. Still, $250 seems steep to me.

The only reason I am considering it is because he can hook it up and burn one from live data, if I order another chip I'm just shootin in the dark so to speak, yaw know of anybody else who can do it around here

got wires going into it other than power....

I don't know I will check, but it is not an HEI, coil is seperate two plug ins style

P.O Here, It is a EFI distributor. Everything on that engine is for EFI. I would try another pressure regulator in the top of that TBI. It was replaced but probably 2 yeare ago and it did alot of sitting with fuel in it.

You think it would make a difference since the pump is running only 15psi?

No. ONLY 15 psi is about the top of the recommended TBI pressure. Should run fine at 11-14 psi. If you have a steady 15 psi DON'T mess with anything there :) I know for a fact you can run higher pressure pumps. I have run mine on a SMPFI pump which puts out 60 psi but just for testing. Lots of guys do run the higher psi pumps but I think they blow by the regulator and possible damage it in long term use. If teh OEM spec is 10-12 that's what I'd try to stay around. Just what I did :)

If the regulator is worn out could it still be causing a rich condition? It does have a steady stream coming from the fuel return line into my fuel cell, I guess I could go buy a $30 regulator from advance and see what happens

You could try that. The regulator is just a diaphram and spring so you might be able to see some damage when you pull it out. It's a little tricky to get it back together with just two hands. You have to compress the spring straight down and not damage the diaphram then put the screws in. Nice to have someone to help there IMO.

Fuel injection is great. Lets see you lay that thing on its side with a carb. Good luck getting it running right.

Don't give up on it, its easy once you get it setup.

I think your regulator is fine, its soposed to return unused fuel to the tank, (it holds the TBI unit at ~15 and send the extra back)

1) get a laptop on it to see whats going on.
2) tune it for what's in there or
3) put a vacuum gauge on it see what its pulling

As far as chips go, it all varies, if it makes it run right $250 may not be bad. It all depends on the support you get. There is a lot involved, the devil is in the details...

While I do some tuning its, my fees vary :D

So I gave this guy a try and he did an awesome job, runs great now, definately worth the money, now I don't have to worry about fouling plugs anymore, give him a shout if you need som FI help, also fixed it same day I brought it to him

Thats awesome, glad you got it running right. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
