I am debating on swapping my '89 k5 w/ 350tbi to a carb. I had a little fire last night and burnt up my injectors pretty good. What are the pros/cons to ditching the TBI? Also what all will I need to change out to make this work? Thanks -Mike

TBI runs at any angle and doesn't die as easy when bounced. Carbs are the opposite.
KEEP THE TBI!

X's gigillion!!

I'v been running TBI for 8 years never had an issue where it wouldn't run----Bad sensor it would run rough but would run.

Keep it!

if it is not a trail rig, carb may be cheaper to replace...but even thats debatable.

Replacing the injectors has to be cheaper than going to a carb. The cheapest price for a carb that I've ever found was about $200 for a reman Edelbrock. Add another $150 for a manifold, gaskets, bolts, brackets, linkage and other assorted parts. Then add the time and aggrevation with the changeover and the stalling on steep or off-camber situations. Carb changeover at least $350, fuel injection-priceless.

Besides stepping backwards in technology about three decades? How about Fuel mileage, easy starting under all conditions, and being able to run at angles. If you do the swap, I may be interested in your TBI stuff.

TBi...so you burnt the 2 squirters?
Hell a new TB is less than a carb

So where can I find one at? Im gonna work on the truck tonight and hopefully theyre not charred where they wont work.

I thought this was a joke. They may be an AutoCrap I mean zone item, or Napa item. Or a junk yard item. I bet that if it plugs in it would work... Giving it's the same motor size and close to the same year:rolleyes:. Someone should should know this.

Pull-a-part. get them off of a 350 or a 4.3

Advance auto carries the injectors and napa has the injector wiring repair harness cause tbi fires are actually kind of common (all it takes is one backfire). The throttle bodies themselves are interchangable between the 4.3, 5.0, and 5.7 (bore diameter is the same), but the injectors are different between the three engines so you need to get injectors from a vehicle that is the same engine size. They flow different amounts.

If you actually want to swap to carb though, PM me cause im looking for a complete tbi setup (computer, wiring, sensors, etc.) so I can ditch the ford 2150 two barrel on my 78 and swap it over to gm tbi.
