Thinking of a move in the next couple of years out towards Seagrove, Denton, New London....somewhere rural around UNF. Would be looking at 10-50 acres. Not necessarily for the offroading at URE, just like the general area.

Any comments or opinions?

I'm in the same boat as you.The area I'm interrested in I call the "iron triangle" IE from 24/27 to the south , 109 to the west and 220 to the east with the apex being Asheboro. Looking at the most 1 acre with half being the least.Don't need much. I want a weekend get a way for now with posibilities of retiring there when I get old and decrepid. The issue is with limitations on such a lot. A small structure is what I am looking at doing. A cabin or possibly something alpiney with small square footage.

I grew up between Seagrove and Robbins off of 705. I know of one place for sale, acreage, house, and a shop. I think the guy use to do body work in the shop. Let me know if I can help. Parents still live in that area and can help find places if needed

Grew up in Badin/Albemarle which is right across the lake from UNF, nothing to add other than the last time I heard rural land was ~$3k/acre for just land.

New london, albemarle, badin ect....all about 30 min from URE all in Stanly county. I think a great place to live, everything you need is close and it's cheap to live. Some land in certain areas can be very expensive but for the most part 150k will get you a very nice house and land.

For context, I just closed on a house here in Troy (inside town limits, but just barely).

Home is approximately 1,650 sq. feet with a 500 sq. foot finished basement and a screened in back deck with 2 car attached carport on 1.05 acres of land. Town sewer and water...I got it for a little over 146. House was built in 1965 but is in really good shape for the age. If I didn't work in Montgomery County, I would have probably searched around Asheboro. It's really growing up that way and there is quite a bit to do.

Land really isn't too expensive around here, if you look away from the lakes. If you look in the Montgomery area, be prepared to drive a bit to get stuff. Asheboro and Albemarle are about 30 minutes from Troy, Pinehurst is closer to 40. Greensboro is a little less than an hour, and Charlotte/Raleigh are around an hour and a half. It's really not a bad area to live. Cost of living isn't through the roof like some places, and the people are nice.

I'm not wanting much. All I need is a micro house/cabinesque dwelling and a place to park. So a 10 acre plot isn't needed. One acre would be nice...some road frontage....waterline(fug a well!)...a little electricity....pass perk. That's all i want.

Any particular area you're looking at? Make sure the home you're looking at is actually built to state building code. A lot of these tiny houses are simply too small to meet minimum room size. We just did a permit today for one that was around 678 sq. ft. of heated space. Some of the other tiny homes you see are actually ANSI park models, which are generally not permitted in residential zoning districts.

If you're looking in the Montgomery area, PM me and I can give you some info.

I grew up in Biscoe and live in Candor. Quite towns. Biscoe is growing well. Easy to get to Asheboro or Southern pines both in about 30 minutes. I would avoid the Troy area. Once the bypass is complete I have a feeling it will dry up fast like Candor & Ellerbe did.

Although Like said above there are "some" bargains to be had if you get away from the lakes.

I live 1.5 miles from 24-27-73, 6 miles outside of Albemarle. 2 miles from the Stanly/Montgomery County line, close to the river/Lake Tillery. 15 miles from The outpost at Ure's. 50 mins. from Salisbury, 1hr from Charlotte and Asheboro. I like the area.

It would be cool to live less than 15 minutes from Uwharrie and have a street legal wheeler. I would probably sneak out there once a week for a couple hour late evening ride after my boy went to bed.

Not really wanting somebody elses bastard child...I was thinking of my own setup....really like an alpine style building with the sloping sides and sleeping loft....
