be there all weekend. camping at crawfords. look for 3 fullsize bronco's .

just got home. ill post pics tromorrow.

I saw you had made it up to the top of guardrail. When we got up there on saturday, the 3 cruisers were hitting it. You should have hung around for a few minutes. The last of the cruisers went ass over teacup from the top of the climb all the way to the cables. It sure was something to see. Both driver and passenger were fine, thanks to the well built cage they had. I decided to take the bypass.:shaking:

BTW, it was nice to meet you. Again, that's a fine looking Bronco.

What time did you guys make it out? The boys and me stopped at Burger King in Murphy for supper and when we left my headlights quit. After a lot of trouble shooting, found the the wiring harness had come unplugged from the dimmer switch:shaking: Got home at midnight...

When you guys get all fixed back up and come back this way let me know.

after sleeping on the ground with nothing at the top of school bus sat. night , we decided against that again
sun. night we left it in the woods and hiked out on foot in the dark around 11pm rode into town and got a motel. got up and went to all the auto parts stores we could find and bought up steering parts. got 5 more gallons of gas went to lowes bought some bolts and more tools , then we hiked all that stuff back up the trails and fixed it , had lunch and drove it out very slowly.:shaking: loaded it up at the new bridge and hauled out the back way. we didnt want to try the 2 switchbacks since we already had problems. my truck is a 4 door long bed and my trailer is a 5 ton equipment hauler and my bronco weighs in the 7000lb. range so we didnt want to try the tight turn up hill. but yes we will go back and do school bus up instead of down with broken steering . i hate we missed slick rock.

x2 - We would have never made it out without you.
We found out the stripped gearbox bolt was causing the rag joint failure. Monday we got bolts to fix that and didn't loose any more rag joints.

Slickrock is my FAVORITE trail in Tellico. It is just plain fun. Went the last day before it was closed for the winter. The toughest obstacle is the last ledge at the top. Here is a pic of me trying to get over it. NO ONE was succesfull that day and the mud was nasty!

I think one of the same FJs went over forwards trying to come down off the ridge top of Schoolbus, right after I went down it. He had to use the starter to drive out once the rear was hooked. Then two guys came up in a Rhino that had flipped both had twisted ankles. The climbs were slick. I don't feel so bad since we winched same spot on Slickrock.

Dam! WTF happened? Need trail report.

Tellico is tough on wider rigs. But its getting better as the banks get dug out. I went down 1/2 inch per side and liked it better just with that much. Down schoolbus?!?!?

i broke all this one piece after another at the top of school bus
starting with the ram. then it was a chain reaction. it started around 2pm on sat. and we slept on school bus. the next day we were without food and waited on parts most of the day. later on around 10:30pm we decided to hike out of the woods and back to the parking lot. we went into town and got a motel and on monday we all called into work and then went to some auto parts stores for parts and a gas can. we got back to the parking lot and hikes back in carrying lots of parts, 5 gallons of gas , a heavy bag of tools and some food and water.
we discovered the rag joint repair kit wouldnt work because you had to grind off the factory studs. so after quick thinking, i got under the hood with a hammer and screwdriver and beat slots into my power steering pulley, fired up the engine and held the factory rag joint against the pulley and ground the heads off. luckily it worked . finally around 4pm we made it back to the tow rig. and got home mon. night around 12:30
broke all the parts in this pic , notice the 5 rag joints
