I'm running one of these connected to a Ford Taurus fan.

They control the fan to only spin as fast as necessary to cool the engine instead of being full on or off. Keeps current draw to a minimum.

if u got the coin, go with the type that dosent simply stop/ start the fan, but rather controls the rpm depending on temp. dc volt motors like what the fan use work well with that setup. it functions like a rheahstat, but i think they call them by another name.
