Terrible service from Blue Torch Fab

This is my first ever bash thread regarding a supplier. I'll keep it short, but to the point.

I needed an aluminum fairlead for my ZJ build. I had a $25 gift certificate from BTF from an ECORS podium finish. I called and placed the order for a grossly overpriced fairlead. Factor in the gift certificate and the price is less ridiculous. I order it, was told it would ship out same day. 4 days later, no fairlead.
Called back, was told new batch was being machined and would ship out that same day. 1 week goes by, no fairlead. Called yesterday, was told that I would receive a call back in 15 minutes. Never did.
Called just now and was told that there is no ETA on when mine or any other fairleads will be ready. I cancel order and ask to have my gift certificate money thrown out.

That is crap service and 3 blatant lies. Done w/ BTF.

Are fairleads vehicle specific?

I got a super cool, customized fairlead for my JK from a local company in Denver, NC, Carolina Metal Masters. Brian is a great guy. Call him and see what he can do for you.

No, they are universal. I was just gonna use up my GC and get one. I have already ordered on locally and will have it Monday. Thanks anyway

Dang, that sucks. How many years have we been reading about bad news from them? Apparently they still haven't gotten their shit together.

That was a badass place when Dan ran it. Dan Dubose is probably one of the nicest people I have met in the industry.

Was down in Dothan picking up a car and went by the shop just to see the place. Dan was happy to talk and even said "go down and see my buddys personal collection of muscle cars. Come back in an hour and we can go grab lunch". He took us to lunch and showed us around the shop after.

I would have paid double for anything that came with his name on it. The other guys...not so much.

Dan has a new shop open now called Motobilt. I believe he had a non-compete agreement after he sold the shop for a few years, but he is back now.

Dan IS the man. When I first started linking my ride he took the time to talk on the phone and give me some pointers. On top of that he designed the stuff and knew what worked. He wasn't just out there slinging parts. You guys would be well served to give him a call.

I didn't get very good service from them either when I bought from them.
I sure hope they changed the lady that answers the phone. She sounded like she was straight from the trailerhood and just got done smoking her fifth pack of cigarettes for the day. Plus she had zero people skills.

The worst part was that they didn't make an attempt to make it right. No apology, no "what can we do to correct this situation", nothing. Back in the day before there were so many different vendors offering tabs, brackets, etc, BTF was great. Like others said, new ownership just isn't what it used to be.

I had several issues with them on one order last year, I ordered a set of YJ DIY tube fenders, they sent CJ

same order I ordered the comp cut rear corner guards, they show up with no hardware, I call them to get this resolved, guy on the phone says are you sure you didn't get the hardware, its taped to the inside of the corner guards, ummm yes I am sure, guy says I know they are there I taped them on myself before they shipped, he told me to look again, I BLEW UP

I never received any hardware, but had a set of YJ DIY tube fenders the end of the week, I almost held the CJ DIY fenders for ransome until I got the hardware

so heres to you BTF:flipoff:

I called to get some dimensions for a d60 truss. Lady took down my info & said she'd call back in 15 minutes....that was 3 days ago. Had to call a friend to get dimensions off his, now I'm just hoping they don't change much from a chevy to a ford. Based on that, I'm kind of hesitant to order anything from them.

I heard they ship super fast too!

Came across a vendor for some CTS-V parts that used Ballistic joints for control arms. Won't be ordering those when the time comes simply because it would possibly take weeks to get rebuild kits.

Sucks you had trouble with BTF. Never dealt with them after Dan left but while he was there it was flawless.

I waited 3 months on a toyota truss back in the day. They charged my card and would not refund. They said they where out of stock. The screwed up part was they showed stock on a ebay store and would ship out of that inventory......

I have personally had good luck with Ballistic. But with Barnes being literally a mile from my house, guess who gets my business?
