Finally finished up swapping a 727 into my CJ7 today. I've attempted to set up the TV cable correctly, but have run into another snag. I'm using a Lokar cable for a 727. In the instructions, it says that when all the slack is removed it is correctly adjusted. This will give full throw of the TV arm on the tranny at wide open throttle. There is a small amount of "play" in the TV arm while the carb is at idle. I've read this is normal. There is also a return spring that keeps the TV arm pulled forward at idle. My question is, do you allow that "play" as part of the slack? Or, is the beginning of adjustment at the point where you first start to feel tension as you pull back on the TV arm. Right now I have it adjusted with no slack with the TV arm all the way forward as the starting point. I took it for a test drive around my neighborhood this afternoon. It drove fine, but it seems to shift into second really quick after pulling away from a stop sign and I'm not sure if I even felt it shift into 3rd. If it did, It was real smooth. If anybody has any advice, I would really appreciate it. Don't want to screw this tranny up due to a bad adjustment. Thanks.
