Does anyone know where I can get a DIY ring for a turbo 350 chevy tranny pan or a heavy steel pan? I would like to just buy the ring and make my own but I have not seen these.

Thanks 91,

I'm waiting on Wade to call me back from blue torch. They're gonna have to one off one for me. I found out I have access to a cnc plasma cutter so all I have to do is draw it on CAD and my buddy can cut it out for me for nothing.

How about just making a skid plate? I'm assuming the trans is above the frame rails..

I've got to do a little more fab but due to my frame rails and the location of my links I was leaning towards a stronger trans pan.

hrmmm
I'd think even if the pan held up that hard of an impact to the tranny would do other bad things.

Strip out trans mount bolts.
Break a bellhousing ear.
Shock load the flywheel/flexplate etc...

Is any of that a concern?

I'm more concerned with skid protection. Not so much impact. I could cut the stock pan with a pocket knife and it's not in very good shape. I just wanna put something on there a little more heavy duty. I am going to build a skid plate as well. I just want something a little stronger and would rather buy a ring and build it myself.

I believe I would go with a deeper pan for more fluid capacity, and concentrate on the skid pan. The aluminum housing of the tranny is not something you want getting hit, scraped or hit, anything like that. Also look for one with a drain plug too. I think Jegs or Doug Herbert would have what you need.
