do i have to have one? on a buggy that won't see 'much' highway riding..
what's its purpose? presumably to "kick-down" to passing gear on the highway... but will the trans. function properly without it?
(if this is too newbish, feel free to move it):flipoff2:

without the kickdown hooked up, youll stick your foot to the floor and itll just rev the motor, not downshift.... it is mainly used to kickdown outta 3rd, but IIRC it does from 2nd to 1st... if youre runnin a manual valve body, or just dont want it to downshift you shouldnt need it...

^^ true, no real adverse effects, also, at part throttle it'll skip 2nd gear

That's funny...

My BOP/BOC patterned TH-400 never had a "kickdown cable" (nor did the 3-4 dozen others I've seen)... but does have an electric "kickdown" solenoid on the tranny body w/ 2 wires connected to a switch mounted on the pedal linkage...

Can't say I've ever missed it... if it ain't "kicking" hard enough, reaching up and dropping it down a gear manually works just fine... of course I can't swear it hasn't "kicked down" a couple random times without my input :flipoff2:

It will be fine.

I prefer M.R.VB but thats just me...
