the th400 in my suburban is slipping in reverse. she'll move in reverse in idle but will begin to slip/grind if you put the gas down more than 1/2 way. selection D 1, 2 work flawlessly. besides a funny high pitched noise when you hit high RPMs but i am just guessing that this is the torque converter. this happened about two weeks ago and it has been sitting at the curb since.
decided to start it up and go forward a few yards then reverse a few yards. figured what the hell lets check the tranny fluid....the dipstick is virtually dry.
so question is: is the tranny loosing fluid because of the slipping, or is the transmission slipping because of no fluid.
the reason this is such a big deal is because right my parents are forcing me to try and sell it because of this. i do not want to sell it. if it is just a matter of some more fluid i would be so happy.
NEED HELP!!!
