This is not anything bad but actually something good. A while back someone posted that they got a ticket for there truck towing to much over its weight. After I saw I went ahead and put weighted tags on my truck. Its only an F-150 and I tow my jeep with it. So low and behold I took the jeep to get gas on the trailer because I am going to URE tommorow and when I pulled into the gas station a nice friendly cop was pulling out. He did a big u-turn and decided to pull in behind me. I get out and start pumping gas like nothing was going on. He got out and wanted to see my registration for the trailer and the truck. he made me turn my lights on. He then had this pissed off look on his face and said have a nice night. He ran my tags on my truck and reliazed that my truck was weighted up to 10,000 lbs. So thanks guy for that post it saved my ass.

I talked to my trooper friend yesterday and he said the motor carriers are being really hard on pick ups towing things. He warned me that if I got on the interstated w/ my skid steer behind my pick up to be prepared to be pulled and weighed. I put 17k on my neused truck and am wondering if that's enough. I need to weigh the truck this next week to see.

They cannot do anything about out of staters, correct?

We don't have weighted tags or anything but we do have 'truck' tags which I do not understand because the nice lady at the DMV said my J10 would not haul enough to qualify for one but I have seen them on grand caravans and forerunners before....

I may be wrong, but I think all of the laws regarding weight are federal laws, not state to state.

that is correct however vehicle tags and registration varies by state.
Not all states even offer weighted tags
