I would like to thank ROB, the MODS and the ADMINS and everyone that helps out with the board! while doing some surfing I have found that some similar sites have dues upto $25
and is constant BS session. The latest thread in the garage has reminded me how smooth this site runs and how good everyone is about keeping the BS to a minamum. I feel like I get my 3 bucks worth everytime I log on.

i fully agree, im a member of a few forums, but this is the only one i contribute to, it is most definitely worth it to help keep it running

Ok, I'll be the one that defends the $25 fee on one of the "other" sites. The number of users there (ColoradoK5.com) is twelve times the amount here. That's a lot of bandwidth, plus we get AMAZING discounts from top vendors and manufacturers, dedicated tech support to one particular brand of vehicle, photo hosting, not to mention we have private forums where we don't have to "babysit".

Now, I realize that I'm comparing a State board to an International board, so they really don't compare, but I feel justified sending $25 to help support the website. Speaking of which, I need to send in my donation for this board. I've been freeloading here for a while. It's high time I support it.

Each site I visit has it's individual niche that it fits in and suits my needs.
 
We should be thanking everyone on the board. From an mod/admin side I personally have seen this site really grow. In part for a few reasons.

1) This is NOT a club. Only a web forum and is open to all. That really helps bring people together from various smaller groups where you may not get much traffic/volume.

2) Local - I love PBB and I happily pay $20/year as it has more than replaced my 3-4 magazine subscriptions for high end technical content. But PBB is not a good source of local info and .... see #3

3) Classifieds - FS sections.. Lets face it you want a good local source to buy/sell stuff.. The FS section is one of the most heavily used sections.

This site isn't a replacement for other sites, but a great local alternative.

Yeah, but also notice that CK5 doesn't tell you how many donating members they have.... which in their case, is their actual member count. I've got a pretty good guess at how many red star members that PBB has, and I assure you that it's a tiny fraction of the 65,000 or whatever that have registered accounts there.

Bandwidth is an issue, sure... but not a huge or particularly costly one. Again, consider that running the PBB is a full-time paying job for a couple of folks.

I don't mean for this to sound like a board war or anything like that. As has been stated, the differences between a board like ours and one like CK5 or PBB are vast. And each has its place. I guess I just don't personally understand where making a paid subscription a requirement of board participation is wise, either from a quality standpoint or a business one.

I myself am member of other boards and I was just regonizing the people of this board for their hard work and not letting things get out of hand.
If this was taken as a bashing I am sorry no harm intended

I didn't think you were bashing. I'm glad someone thought of making this thread. I haven't used this forum for much other than answering a few questions, but I would like to take advantage of some of the sections in the future. Cheers back to ya! :beer:
 
I am a paying member of only one other board and it is a brand specific board for Jeeps. I am non paying member at several other boards but I pay here because it is a local board with local people on it. I dont know but one or two people from here but it is still nice to have access to local vendors and what not.
 
I love this board & appreciate all of the hard work that goes into it.

I've bought/sold a lot of good stuff & met some cool people to boot!!
