I have a 4.0 High Output in my 96 XJ and I'm wondering what muffler i should get. I want something that's pretty loud but not obnoxious if that makes any sense.

Flowmaster 50 is what I have always run. Did run a Flowmaster 40 for a couple weeks. That crap had to come off.

A muffler will never give you HP or torque it can only rob less hp/torque...

Wit the very minor pipe scavenging exception. But if thats the issue you need an engine to blow harder.

When I was in college, I put a Dynomax turbo muffler on my jeep and thought I liked it and thought it was faster. A year or two later when I got tired of it rattling against the bottom of the jeep, I put the stock exhaust back on, and realized how much torque had been missing and how much better I liked my jeep with the quiet muffler.

can't go wrong with a perforated core glass-pack

(this includes the round ones as well as the oval ones from dynomax, etc.)

to me, the I-6 does NOT sound good with a glasspack...maybe if you had a nice setup...like all mandrel bent 2.5" piping and a larger tailpipe with a nice tip....doesn't sound too bad...but it just sounds raspy
