Ok so, I tore down my porch today and took it to the dump. The dump said "you have to pay for that". Well we have new owners of the dump for the last few months and the rules have changed.
Used to be C&D for homeowners was free but now we have to pay for a bag of trash. They literally say 10 bags a week for household...so I bought bigger bags. Today they told me as I watched army trucks and humvees .... riding around (FEMA HAS TAKEN OVER THE DUMP)..I have to pay for dropping off my front porch which was damaged during the storm. Well I told the young lady at the scale (which knows me) I'll drop it off but you won't see me re-weigh. She said...'i don't blame you buh bye".
Anyhow, I guess I'm a fugitive.
So far it's quiet...shhhh...

Ok, i usually avoid this. I do work for the government and I would like to help. Go to: Disaster Unemployment Assistance | DES

There are rules and I’m an IT guy so those are not my expertise. I help keep the system running, which during the pandemic was a 100 hr/week nightmare.

Let me just say that during Katrina we did a far better job of putting money in people’s hands than FEMA. So much so they wanted us to be the distribution channel going forward. At that time the idea was crazy as the volume was so much higher for a federal disaster than unemployment.

Normally we issue debit cards but you might consider direct deposit if you have better access to those funds. USPS is impacted too.

Ownership hasn't changed--the county still owns it and it has always cost to dump, its just that she never charged anyone mostly because it's stupid and a pain in the ass to go back across the scale with cars lined up on it. Now for the past few months they are enforcing it. That being said the county has said to stop bringing debris to the landfill, put it beside the road and they will pick it up (for "free"), you'll get turned away at the landfill.
