Hey there, I'm planning on coming to The Flats for the open ride on January 10th. From what I've heard/noticed, the trails are marked green, yellow and red. What would you guys say an XJ with a 4.5" lift and 32/11.50 mud terrains and a ZJ with a 4" lift and 32's would be comfortable doing? This will be mine and my buddies first time coming to the flats. These are both our daily driven rigs. The ZJ is locked F/R and the XJ is open diff F/R. I'm always a little weird about going to a new place I don't know and trying things out. I don't want to get myself into a mess I can't get out of. Is there a trail map online anywhere? Thanks for the help guys I look forward to meeting some of you there. Thanks!

The ZJ will be better off... If its wet the XJ will have a terrible time everywhere. Honestly if its dry you will have a lot of fun. If its wet... Just plan to watch guys break stuff!

I'd say it is going to be wet and sloppy, but don't let that stop you, it will be a lot of fun! With the upcoming weather, the wet ground out there now will be freezing and thawing daily. I'd stick to the greens and yellows with the exception of Laurel Lane, unless they fill in the top before the 10th. Last time we were out there nobody made it out without winching including truggy's & buggy's on 37's to 42" tires. The bottom of Easy Street (small rock garden) is one of my favorite parts of the flats. There is a detour out to the left about a 1/3 of the way up Easy Street that I normally take. You can go all the way up the trail, but plan on winching at least once.

Advice coming from a WJ with ~ 5" lift on 35's, locked F&R. I drive there and back, so I'm probably a lot nicer to my jeep than most others that wheel @ the flats.

You can do a ton of stuff out there when it's dry, but as mentioned before, when it rains, that place gets really difficult. The Flats is one of my favorite places to wheel, always run into a bunch of friends and the trails have everything you could want from mild to wild.

It's as much fun watching the big boys bounce up the hills and over the rocks as it is wheeling. Those guys always put on a good show.

You will have fun. The Flats has a great layout so you will be able to see much of what a trails look like without running it. Lots of good spectating and plenty of areas to "play".
