I send 20$ a year because i give a shit about offroading.
And i've met alot of friends on here.

$20 to give a shit about offroading would be better spent somewhere else. supporting a board is one thing but what specifically has the board done to further protect offroading? I'm being serious. I'd like to know. Besides providing a space for people to congregate to talk about it, what has it done?

I'm sorry to be the odd man out but I just don't see where you get 5-10 pages of new posts. there's maybe 5 posts in Chit Chat. 1-2 in Gen Tech usually something along the lines of I want to do X to my X has anyone else? Then you have a few updates in build threads with limited pics and most folks saying, "cool build" "come a long way" "looks badass'. Finally, I think the most updates come from upcoming rides.

I think you're missing the piont here. I believe the original purpose of this thread was to ask about the garage and what was it. Then it spawned into paying $5.50 to get access. All I gave was my opinion about whether $5.50 was worth the price of admission and I still think it's not. It has nothing to do with supporting the board. If you think it's worth your coin by all means. what does it matter to you what some stranger thinks?
 
If the site isn't worth supporting, why bother even getting account, do you send pms, post fs ad, maybe not. I visit many sites and if they suck as bad as you say, I definitly don't sign up to complain. You as "free" as anyone to contribute content. Possibly you do else where or are more reguarded someplace else. Happy trails.

I think whats being missed here is Shawn and Rob before him have done a great job providing a place for local wheelers to meet, share info, hang out and make friends...they have done this for FREE...they have not demanded anything in return.

Ever looked at what bandwidth costs? or server space? this stuff aint free.
$5.50 is not for garage access.
$5.50 allows you an avatar, allows you to post pics, allows garage access and gets certain member benefits....BTW all of those items cost money...pics take up bandwidth etc.

it would probably shock many to learn what Shawn pay out of pocket to keep our little home on the web open....When you make a post that this site isnt worth less than a penny a day you can understand why some people respond harshly.

That said stay away 24 hours, log in and click new posts....I just did and there were 286 threads with at least 1 new post. To say 5-6 new posts a day...that's insulting and inaccurate.

Sorry you think the tech and build threads here are lame...I'm sure pirate is more badass for you maybe try hanging out there?

Obviously I've done a piss poor job of explaining myself. I never said the board wasn't worth supporting. I said paying $5.50 to get access to the Garage wasn't. Please go back and re-read my posts. You'd of thought I went around and smacked every persons momma in the mouth :lol:

As for the 5 posts a day comment. OK, sure maybe that's a little off but it's what I pick out. Do I read every section? No. Do you read every magazine on the shelf when you go to the store? No you don't. So that's where I'm coming from.

I don't think I'm being irrational here. Sorry if you think I am. It's the internet people. Don't let one person whom you know little or nothing about spoil your fun.

Edit: but for the record, I don't see the point in encouraging someone to contribute or disparaging them for not doing so. I certainly appreciate the folks that chip in every year... but I don't fault those that don't. I'd just rather everybody enjoys the time they spend on the board.

I don’t see the 5.50 as being for the garage, I see it as supporting the site and being rewarded for it with something extra.

You don’t just go and build a new skyscraper with out talking and planin It out first. Gotta have a place to talk.

I have atleates 10 subscribed threads with new posts at any given time

And even if there was only 1 post a day , you’ve obviously been helped, and found some good info on here. If I wasn’t getting any answers or any good coming from being on here I sure wouldn’t stick around 5 years

The original purpose was to ask what it was all about. Yeah macdaddy but was the first to mention the 5.50(but he was answering the question, best way to figure out something by doing it) but you was first to talk about it not being worth it thus “spawning” the whole is the garage worth 5.50 convo.

what good is an opinion or concern if there is no where to express it? in a democratic society a voice is meaninless without some where for people to congregate and speak out.
