Hey guys, I need to remove some rusty a** nuts off of studs on my exhaust on my dd to replace the doughnuts. I really don't want to break them cause that would mean finding a new intake/exhaust manifold because gm was smart enough to make them one piece on their inline 6 cyl models. Anyway, I think i can heat one or two up and get them off that way but the others on the back side i am not too sure I want to get in there with the torch because it is too close to the oil pan. What i need is to know the BEST penetrating oil/spray whatever to get in there and work on those nuts. Let me know what ya'll think is the best stuff to use. Thanks, Josh

Aerokroil is the best, but I have yet to find it anywhere locally. PB Blaster is the best parts store penetrant I have used.

I like the blue wrench myself, but if you can't get to it that's not an option. But, I highly recomend using anti-seize or a deep brass nut going back on it.

Anti-seize will stand up to the heat? i know it has metal in it but I was thinking about the binding agent. Thanks, Josh

I like PB.. I was told for really bad bolts, heat them up with a propane torch, then use the PB to cool it.. the cooling action is supposed to help "wick" the PB in.. haven't tried it, but it makes sense.

just had a discussion on the anti-sieze over on the ORC SWB board. there's Alum and there's copper Anti sieze. apparently the Copper is for higher temp application.

I use the Kroil all the time for gun stuff and have used it some on the rig.
Try gun shops to find it or let me know a got several cans of it.

I'm with Rich on the PB and heat. Thats how I got the bolts out of the turbo I put on the ranger. Zep 40 is also a good product. It's about the same thing as Tri Flow.

This is what I'd use/do. Soak it like they say, tap (more like whack it) with a hammer, then heat the manifold around the stud. If you put the tip of the flame only on the stud the heat will expand the stud more than the surrounding metal and tighten it up.

Aero Kroil works best for me.

Antisieze I use sparkplug thread lube, milk of magnesia, black bear or my favorite C5-A (copper based antisieze)

When we pull fans on turbines we heat the fan, dry ice the main shaft and back them out with the powerdynes.

Good info on this site always.
