This subject has fascinated me for the last couple of months. As I have mentioned before, I love listening to Joe Rogan's podcast and one thing he has brought up several times with different guests is the subject of the Great Pyramids and how they were constructed. Some archeologists claim they were built using ramps and pulleys to move these (over 2 million) 2.5 ton stones carved out of the side of mountains and some traveled as much as 500 miles to the site where the pyramids now exist. One pyramid they think was built in as little as 30 years with this primitive technology. More unconventional archeologists claim that the great pyramids are much older seeing as how the Sphinx has signs of water erosion. There is also the theory that a more advanced ancient civilization built the pyramids with an advanced technology closer to 11.000 - 12,000 years ago before comet impact all but wiped out this civilization. Very interesting to think about, but I am certainly no expert and I don't know if anyone here has seen the great pyramids in person, but I am now enthralled and would love to see them for myself.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

The part that really boggles my mind is how they carved the stones out of the mountain and traveled up to 500 miles and I believe there is something about there exact placement in alignment with the stars.

Years ago I worked with a young lady originally from Egypt. Her family moved here when she was about 12 and apparently kept her in a closet or something because she knew nothing of pop culture. Never even heard of Andy Griffith.
But anyway, I said to her one day “some Americans have conspiracy theories about how aliens built the pyramids. What do Egyptians think?” She had never heard of a conspiracy theory, but said “it was 50,000 Hebrew slaves.”

If I set 2 red solo cups out in my yard, they're gonna align with some star.

Nice, never heard of this piece of history. I'm convinced that given our current technology we are probably (if not) the most ignorant population in history. It's getting worse.
These minds and the use of simple machines and applications of physic and math are impressive at the very least. The craftsmanship and brute physical application of labor blows my mind. Slave, force, or for hire.....the teamwork and ability to do so much with prospectively so little trumps any tech advantage we abuse through less and less creative applications.

I think leaving that a group of humans leaving the earth, landing on a foreign sky land thousands and thousands of miles away, that no one had ever been to before and new very little about, and got back unharmed with mechanincal computers and the electronic computing power of a original NES is far more mind boggling to me.

I found this on the interwebs. It must be true.

I hadn’t heard this before:

There has been a theory, propagated by a Greek historian Herodotus that the great pyramids of Egypt were built by slaves. The fact of the issue is that many skilled artisans wanted so much to be involved in the construction of this great wonder. Research facts show that the builders were well-fed, well paid, and highly honored. As a result, many of them who died during the construction were buried next to the final resting place of Pharaoh as a sign of honor.

Brother, I moved to the US in 2015 and even after living here for years, I had never heard of Andy Griffith until I went to Mt Airy a few year ago.
I'd wager that most gen Z folks don't know of him either.
He is not an international pop culture star at all...

As far as the pyramids, slaves. Lots of them.

I know that no one really knows exactly what happened some 4500+ years ago, but the idea of this civilization (whoever it was) building these things with what we could only presume are primitive tools and all done by hand is astonishing. I try not to get caught up in these conspiracy theories, but man, some of them are so fascinating and really make you sit back and think.

and safety checks....we'd still be building the Hoover dam today if the 100+ person safety team had been a thing back then
Read a stat that even the Arch over what ever river that is..... couldn't be built. It isn't that old.

There's a lot of time to get shit done during the day when you don't have TV or phones sucking up your attention.

Go check out the pyramids in Mexico if you want a cheaper trip than Egypt. We have been to Tulum, it's amazing the things they accomplished back then. Chichen Itza is larger than Tulum, but we chose the Tulum tour as it was far less time on a tour bus.
