Part of GM's strategy for returning to profitability? Throw out Chevy in favor of Chevrolet. Maybe they like that it sounds more French...?

why dont they just use General Motors, GM. on everything. why do they have to have so many brand names?

It's funny they cite Apple (Mac) and Coca-Cola (Coke).
Me and my homies don't have time to say Chevrolet Caprice yo.

'57 chevy sounds so much better than '57 chevrolet or crate chevrolet 350

I literally don't think I've ever heard someone say Chevrolet in a conversation. I think this is absurd...so they're spending money on these meeting, they're going to spend money on cohesiveness meetings, they're gonna spend money on reworking marketing and the only people that it's going to make a difference with are the ones GM owns/lincenses to or are employees. The consumer, track announcers and everyone else on this planet is still going to call it a Chevy. Besides, I think 'Chevy' is a more iconic name/term than Chevrolet anyway.

I think they should use "company run by idiots who should be bankrupt except the American taxpayers unwillingly bailed them out."

That might not fit on the back of a new camaro...:shaking:

But I do agree with you...

Well said. They have a good product but I lost a lot of respect when they went on TV bragging about how they paid the bailout money back early. Only to find out later they used bailout money to do it.

Z92

I still love early-80's chevys.GMC should be the logo.I recently saw a Z92(I Think) silverado at the beach.Had a lift, chain link looking chrome grill,Z92 stickers, big tires.Looked pretty darn good to me and some others. Can't locate a pic.Kinda weird....
Anyone have a pic?

Chevy trucks have been junk since about '91 and up. If you have to finance your vehicles like me when you buy one, they can't make it to the payoff without breaking down.
Within 4 years my experince on Chevy trucks, different year models of course.
radiator plastic caps on one of them leaking
hub unit bearing failures
randomly puts itself in 4wd
idler pullys
fuel pump went out - at 23,000 miles!
frt axle shaft seals - lots of these
intake gaskets - vortecs with the plastic intakes
alternators
waterpumps
idler arms - each truck - moog fix kit for this, chevy can't fix it
dash lights intermittent
steering shaft binding/bumping
power steering pump moaning/dragging - known issue they won't fix (plastic pump versus metal pump, fixed the problem with a rebuilt metal one)
turn signal/headlight sockets melting down

All these vehicles have been garaged

thats why they say 'box' and 'whale', right?

^^^This man speaks the truth. My dad has a 84 silverado, and a 93 silverado. His 93 has given him way more trouble than his 84. The 84 is in great shape with normal tune ups, the 93 is crap, to many electronics.

i think who evers idea this whole "chevy" thing was, was still drunk at a board meeting and got put on the spot and said the first thing that came to mind!, lol
the whole thing dosent make any since. no one wants to say chevrolet all the time, even their own comercial said it
remember the bob seager song?
the comercial said "chevy, like a rock"
