kay guys im hutting the junk yard this weekend and was wondering if theres a quick way to check what gear ratio of jeeps. I know its in the vin number but what digit is what ratio. and what digit is the axle type its self. Im not lazy on the axel type just dont wanna crawl under every jeep i see if i aint gotta lol

stock xj gears an everything 355 ratio or what ever else i could pick up from pull apart. hopefully some 410 wrangler axles... but that prolly aint gonna happen

I don't think you'll find that info on the VIN, the best info you can get from the VIN is engine type...usaully the 4.10 ratios end up on 4-cylinders.

was at pull a part last sat. look for 4cyl jeeps some come with 410s. there was a 98 with a ch8.25 with 3.55. me and a buddy just got a front lift last week, he was so stoked lol

Im just lookin honestly but I do need a stock rear end mines acting funny and thanks for the info any others want to add some info on this

IDK i went to the dealer ship and they asked me the vin..Ill do some searching tonight just threw it out here to see if someone knew so i didnt have to

The dealer wanted the vin so they could pull up the build sheet on your jeep. The easiest way imho is to look at the tag on the diff. There will be one on the front and the rear. If its dirty just wipe it with a rag and some solvent.

Crawling under a Jeep is a good thing!
