So I recently sold my Tahoe back to Hendrick because it was a POS. It was also terrible for towing, so I wasn't going to bother looking for another one. Went looking for a newer diesel, but this one presented itself and couldn't pass up the deal. I traded the guy for a Grand Cherokee I had sitting beside the shop. All told I'm in this thing for about $1500.

It is a 98 extended cab longbed, 6.5L TD. The guy put new heads and head gaskets on it, all new injectors, thermostat, all that good stuff. Relocated and replaced the PMD and the fuel solenoid, all new bushings in the frontend, new brakes all around, new wheels and tires, new stereo, etc. He also painted with paint from an Apache helicopter, he is in the military and got some surplus.

It runs and drives awesome, but looks like all hell. Only thing I have done so far is repainted the grille.

Plan is to redo the body in black bedliner, redo the interior with some fresh dye and some carpet to replace the torn vinyl floor, maybe an exhaust, make it a mean looking tow rig.
I know the 6.5TD isn't the most beastly of tow rigs, but for what I have in it it is perfect.

IMO I would leave the olive drab. I can't picture that truck covered in black bedliner. May look a bit like a iron skillet or frying pan. You could probably cook something on the hood in the summer too if it was all black.

Jelly of the chevy diesel though :usa:

"I see an olive drab door and I want it painted black
No colors any more, I want them to turn black"

Black is fine, just please.....for the love of all that is GM and not completely white trash, don't do bed liner! :gitrdun: :shaking:

I think I might actually just spray paint on it. I do like the green but my wife really doesn't like it.

I am going back and forth over doing black bedliner, black tractor paint, or some of this cheap dark blue paint I found online.

Here ya go....

Here's what the semi-matte black would look like:

And a nice Fire Engine Red:

And a Forestry Service Green:

And last but not least, Barbie Pink:
