This one is for me

Man where you been? Long time no speak!

If all goes well I'll be wheeling before URE closes.....

THREEE YEARS FROM NOW!!!

DO NOT ORDER FROM SHAFFERS OFFROAD!:fuck-you:
This applies to everyone, its amazing that company is in buisness, I have stories about them and if all his threads about bad buisness weren't deleted off pirate I could show you, but its pirate and Mike is "in the loop".
BTW, build looks good:beer:
Yea it was pretty sketchy from the get-go. I ordered online and immediately got an order conf. So I thought all was well. After 2 weeks and no shipping conf. I called all day and got no answer. That went on for a whole week. Then a month into it I finally got someone (came across as the main man) who put me on old for 10 mins only to come back just to tell me that they never recieved my order and had none of the trusses in stock and that the 2 5/8 width one was never even produced by them even though it was on their site for sale. He said it would be atleast 3 to 4 more weeks before it would ship. I said keep it and I'll make my own.

Engine cage pretty much done and some of the radiator mount finished.

chris, what kind of wiring harness did you use?

looks damn good BTW!

I'm probably gonna make my own harness. I'm running a late model vortec motor but I took off the EFI intake in favor of a carbed intake so I could run propane. The factory starter harness works great for this truck because its just what you need and no more. A red cable from the battery to the starter and a ground from battery to the block and the alternater. It's all in a nice factory loom that looks pretty clean. I'm running a HEI distributor so It has 2 pins on it, one to the tach the other to a switched 12 volt source. The motor will run with the battery cables and 12v's to the distributor. You can't get much easier than 3 wires. I have very little wiring to deal with. The most complicated thing I'll have to wire is the gages and lights. It makes things much more simple to fix if something happens on the trail. No fuel pump to go bad no computer to get fried. It's the way to go IMO.

Anybody got good ideas for nice clean looking universal radiator hoses. Not sure if i wanna spring for all -an stuff, I'm too cheap.

Looking good there dude.

hey chris, we can wheel together at ure when i get the ramcharger built.
3 YEARS FROM NOW!!!!! LOL
looking awesome man.

When I did the rear radiator in my cab truck, I just took a bunch of measurements and sketched up on paper what the hoses needed to look like. For one of the more complicated hoses, I bent up a coat hanger into the general shape, and took all that stuff with me to O'riellys. The guy let me look around back there in the hose area as long as I wanted. I was able to find a hose I could make work for each one that I needed. I ran metal pipes under the cab, so just had to connect on the motor end and the radiator end. I ended up buying over $100 i radiator hoses:lol:

Yea that's probably what I'll end up doing. My upper hose is pretty simple just need a 45 degree bend in right after it comes out of the thermo housing. The lower on the other hand is a bit more complicated. I like the coat hanger idea, might try that.

I've been chuggin along a little at a time on this thing. Got my orbital and steering column worked out. Mounted my rear airshocks. I got a hell of a deal on some new 18" racerunners, so for now no rear coilovers. It's now sitting on springs all the way around.
I'm definitely getting closer now. Got my transfercase adapter thanks to Dave at olivers, he got me a great deal on it and was a pleasure to deal with. The plan is to start on the dash soon but I've got to get through auto fair and a couple projects I've got going on now to get some free time. The Dash is gonna be all aluminum and hopefully have a little more shape than just a flat panel but we'll see how it works out.
Right now I gotta get a few more parts to get the interior finished up. I also think I've decided to do a set of half doors for it. When I had my s-10 blazer that was probably one of the best things i ever did with it. Makes it where you can lean out and see the tires better. I got tired of having bruises in my arm pit with full doors. Originally I liked the idea of having full doors that I could roll the windows up on in the winter but In the scheme of things I really dont get to wheel much in the winter anyways.

top notch work as usual! i'm glad to see you're pluggin' along with this thing. i look forward to seeing all your rigs at the auto fair.

Woot! Woot! Started fabbin up my dash today. Switches and guages will be in the center section aimed toward me and the big goofy tach will be right above the steering column. Im gonna build a small pod that sticks up above the top of the dash to break up the big flat area on top a little.

Thanks! I wish I had more time to work on it, but money making comes before money spending. I had hoped to have it on the trail by th end of the year but Im not sure thats gonna happen.

That dash looks amazing man.

Don't take this the wrong way, Chris...

but that's pretty much shit hot.

Man that is awesome!!! One of the best fab pieces I have seen on here by far!! I have to come to your shop sometime!!

Anytime man. I'm here sun up to sun down pretty much every day.

I've been itching to do some sheet metal work. I'm tired of bending tube, so I guess my truck is the guinea pig lol. Getting some practice AND my truck's getting done.
