I woke up Sunday morning and got in the shower. Was washing my face under the water and the water got in my left eye. Thought to myself, (that was weird. I thought I had my eye squinted shut). I got out of the shower and was brushing my teeth. When I spit out the tooth paste in the sink, it just kind drooled down my chin. I looked up in the mirror and noticed my face looked a little strange. At that point, I started making facial movements to see what was wrong. I then realized I couldnt move the left side of my face. That freaked me out a little. The first thing that popped in my head was that I had a stroke in my sleep but I felt fine and I am only 32 years old.
I decided to stay home from church and maybe I had just slept on it wrong.
Well about 1:00 I decided to go on to the doctor at the walkin clinic. Come to find out..... I have Bell's Palsy. WTF!
Now today its even worse and my smile is crooked and my left eye is dry as hell. Oh! And the left side of my tongue is numb. Now thats a weird feeling. LOL!
The doc says with about 8 pills a day, it should go away in a few weeks. Good thing I am not a model and get paid for my looks or smile! LOL!

Dagum that sucks man

How do you contract this disease

My first cousin had this and she was fine in about 3 weeks. Talk about dramatic for a girl! She went into hiding until it was fixed.
I'm the type that could care less what others think of my looks but I'm ugly to begin with. LOL
Hang in there dude! At least it's curable now days!!!

There are 3 people in my generation in my family that have went through this, including me. I lost all taste, sense of smell and movement on the left side of my face. I could not even blink an eyelid on left side. I had to take bunches of pills and keep a solution in my left eye to keep it from drying out. A month later and several $$$ later I was fine.

The other two were my sister and one of my first cousins (also a girl). All three took place within 3 years of each other while we were in our teens.

It does suck but you will be fine in a few weeks.

Yep knew where this was going by line 2.
My dad had it about 10 years ago never heard of it before then. Then my wife had it while pregnant with our first, then I go it 2 years later. Doctor about freaked when I called him and said I had Bell's Palsy, he was shocked I knew what it was, and even more shocked when I explained everything to him.

They didnt give me any medication though, only eye lube and I had to put it in there and tape my eye shut everynight.

You should try dipping with it, it just kinda rolls out that side of yoru mouth.

And BTW if you havent figured this out yet (Im sure you have) a straw will make drinking considerably easier.

I dunno man.. you're still kinda funny lookin.. :flipoff2:

(I know, pot meet kettle!)

Dang Nathan...Glad you should be fine though.
Try to ride with us Dec. 1st in the parade. If you feel like it.
Hope your ok man.

Dang, that would scare the :poop: outta me too! Hang in there, at least it will go away in time.

If it makes you feel any better, I have a mild case of TMJ and a couple of weeks ago my jaw popped out of joint. That was weird! I could still partially open and close my mouth, but my jaw moved at like a 45* angle and it didn't feel too good. I finally got it popped back in, but now I am much more careful about how I stretch my mouth open!

I have had it also. Can be a really big pain in the butt. Mine wasn't as severe as yours but it took near about a month to go away. Only thing I still notice now is sometimes when i move my mouth a certain way I can feel it start to pull to the left and then it will get my eye too. More like a muscle spasm. No worries though.

i cant help laughing ..... my brother had the same thing 20 years ago and i just thought about it today! you will get over it and laugh for years to come. hope it is short lived

This is your one justifiable chance in life to wear a pirate eye patch

my Marine Corps recruiter had it for about 2 weeks and thats what the doctor made him do with lube under it
