so, got my ARB installed last week and just now got a chance to turn it on. long story...the compressor broke/cracked during installation and i had to wait for ARB to send me a new one. they covered it and sent it overnight. (thumbs up for ARB).

okay....no leaks on the compressor end (been tested), but the rear diff is making a gurgling sound. the compressor will only shut off for about 6 secs at a time which leads me to believe it wont hold the air pressure.

any thoughts?

Yea, it sounds like the locker itself has a leak. Who installed it?

Gurgling sounds i likely the air leaking out underwater (hopefully oil instead) in the diff. Could be that the line was rubbing against the ring gear if it didn't do it initially, or could be something you just didn't notice in a connection. Think about what would be below sea level in your diff and that might be leaking.

sounds like someones blowing bubbles through a straw in the 3rd.

called the distrbutor and they said it sounds like one of the seals in the locker was damaged on installation. the seal housing assembly has to be installed and run out through the 3rd for the airline. i am guessing that is what is damaged.

but...am i correct thinking the compressor should not run 15 secs, turn off and back on within 5-6 secs.?

My arb compressor takes about 45 sec (from memory) to fill the little tank on the compressor. After that I can turn the locker on and off about 10-15 times before the compressor refills. If I just lock a diff and wheel it will refill every 45 minutes or so.

It should not turn back on with 5-6 seconds like you describe.

thanks! i didn't think that was normal. that's what i needed to know....appreciate it!

Mine never even runs...(CO2 tank)

if the ARB's were installed correctly...you ought to be able to turn on the lockers (not on/off/on/off/etc) and the compressor wouldn't run for 24-48 hours...

Mine runs for about 25 seconds to do F+R. I can lock and unlock both only once before it will cycle again. (2 total times.)

Your leak will be easy to spot once you pull your cover. Who did the install????

Touche.

Yea, and those copper lines are Metric. They are a bear to repair. Hopefully the installer will replace the whole entire part.

I did my own install on my wrangler and broke the copper line a4 months later. I was able to cut the existing line of flush, drill the old out and braze some of the old line back in. It worked great from there on out. I guess I didn't have enough shims in there to prevent the collar from moving.

They worked great when they worked, but between loose branches snatching my line and the copper line breaking while on the trail I'd go with another locker if I had to do it again.

unfortunately ARB is my only option. 33 spline.

they actually got their HVAC guy to solder it back together and all seems to work okay. still get a quick burst from the compressor about every 60 seconds, which tells me it is still leaking somewhere, but i can't confirm its in the 3rd. it was dark when i got the truck back and i am leaving for harlan today, so i will use it the best i can this weekend and worry about it when i get back.
