I would like to suggest that the poster of the thread be sent an PM if their thread is deleted.
This could be a paying member only feature. I am not sure how many are deleted daily so I am not sure how much of a pain it would be for the mods.
Or you could have some sort of message stating briefly why is was deleted. This could pop up when the OP click on the subscribed thread link in his or her CP. If there is some sort of thing, point me in the right direction.
I just know it is confusing and upsetting when you go to check the updates and it just gone. I am not one to bend or push the limits of the board, I understand the rules are there for a reason. I just feel this would help people understand better.
I know I have had one or two deleted and had to PM a mod to find out why.
Not trying to bitch or whine, Just throwing out a suggestion for discussion.

What thread are you referring to?

If it's the globe trail thread it was probably deleted because it's not a legal wheeling place. NC4X4 is an entity that can be viewed by anybody that has a computer & we do not want to promote illegal wheeling or trespassing.

I'll usually post in the thread & ask to post a price before deleting a thread, if the poster does not comply it's goodbye.

I have no thread that I am referring to. I am just throwing an idea out there. I am sure its been brought up before.

Jeff

I have seen you give warning as to what will get it deleted, I think that helps people follow the rules (at least give them a chance to). Thanks

It all boils down to people should read the rules of the forum and there would be not need to delete threads.

I just think it would be nice to get a PM stating that my thread was deleted for said reason.

if you have a specific issue and you think it was handled unfairly let me or an admin know. They will promptly ban you :) j/k

seriously you have NO idea how many people:
1) don't read the stickies
2) read them and don't care
3) read them and think that their 1 post isn't a big deal
4) can't read (seriously they have screen reader for those people)
5) just don't care
6) like to cause problems
7) like bacon...

8) are big azz babies

Fixed it

All of the above. Seriously though, we all slip up sometimes and forget to put in that one part of an ad that will get it deleted. I know Ive been reminded a couple times. Its me that messed up, not the mods. Most of the time if something gets deleted, Its because the OP tries to buck the mods, or the thread just plain needs to get out of sight.

A while back I posted a shotgun for sale, stupid me didn't read that firearms are not permitted in the For Sale section. I forget who the mod was, but they sent me a PM letting me know that, and that the thread had been deleted. I really appreciated the PM, and responding saying so. I think the mods here do a good job giving people a chance to fix a mistake before the thread is deleted, or in my case, let me know why the thread was deleted.

Oh and I am #7 :)

yeah, no kidding. the forum has been around for quite some time. Things run REALLY well around here. To go an make a suggestion on how to fix the site...before you ve even had a problem with it (not only that but its an idea that comes up about 6 times a year) was kind douchey.

Dunno why this post has gotten under my skin so bad. i've just seen posts complaining about mods on other sites turn really bad.

The mods on this site do an excellent job and things run very smoothly here.

Let me clear this up,

After looking at the post I see how this could have came off as me trying to call out a mod, or be an ass about something. Which is not what I intended to do. I am just not that type of person.

I am more of the 'let know what I did wrong type'.

Like I said I have no problems with anyone on here and did not intend for this to piss anyone off or rub them the wrong way.

I have had one post deleted which is no big deal, I understand why they did it. Had I been on the site longer I would have most likly gotten a messaging saying what I have done. In all likly hood if I were on the site longer I would have known not to post it in the first place.

In hind sight I should have not started this thread.

Sorry if this upset anyone, Like i said I was just making a suggestion. But sometimes you stick your foot in mouth.

I will delete this thread later today.

Mike, no real need to delete the post. This topic has been brought up before, and I assure you, I don't think you rubbed anyone the wrong way. There is a simple explanation of why everyone doesn't Get a PM of why something was deleted.
Basically, every mod, admin and so on are volunteered, many recruited. The board runs smoothly because of how they do their very underpaid job. All of the mods and admins are just like the rest of us, family's, jobs, and a habit called wheeling. The more they have to do to do their mod or admin job takes away from something or someone. I am sure there are times when they are so overwhelmed with admin/mod stuff, they lack the time to do what we all do all the time, enjoy the board.

Just to answer the original question. The STANDARD operating procedure here is when we mod a post, we PM the post owner to let them know why.

The ONLY exception to that is the spammers that get on every once in a while, they get deleted and banned quickly.

But for the rest of the posters, paying members or not, we do our best to contact them, etc.
