86What model Jeep? They are easy to change.
XJ, right? Get a Haynes manual for your Jeep. Then, go to a junkyard and get a replacement column. You're in Shelby? Might be able to lend a hand. I've replaced several.
I think I have a Haynes manual. If you want to borrow it, you're more than welcomed. Where in Shelby do you live?i ordered one new and im going to get me a Haynes manual...
i think ill just buy one for future reference if or more like when something else messes up..... thanks for the offer thoughI think I have a Haynes manual. If you want to borrow it, you're more than welcomed. Where in Shelby do you live?
to late for that.... its not even safe to drive now because every time you go turn the steering wheel just flops aroundApparently this is pretty common on the GM columns Jeep used until they started with airbag Chrysler columns (mid 90s), at least that's what I found after googleing it the first time. Instead of tearing it apart, I just swapped in another one I had. Well, this one has loosened up, so I will tear into it soon. Do not let it go for long, it starts out loose, but once it lets go, there will be 4-5 inches of play in the steering wheel, not fun.
