Time for tires. I’m considering dropping down from the 20” rims to 18s. Will go with an A/T tire.

What wheels do you think would look good?

Bonus points if you photoshop them on.
This is an old pic, but the best one I have from the side.

The tire selection for 20s is pretty good. If you wanted wheels I'd say something in a dark color or Tremor takeoffs. Personally I would avoid wheels with fake beadlocks or holes on the outer edge.

My f250 is the same color and was considering a bronze wheel.

No advice on a wheel selection but I applaud the reduction to 18s. More sidewall will simply ride better on an HD truck and provide more cushion for big hits. May not track as if it is on rails as much (less sidewall squirm on 20s) but will not feel like it is on rails either, which is a big win IMHO. I love having 17s on my Ram.

Nah. You need 24s for that stick past the fenders.

I'm a huge proponent of 18's, do it and don't look back. I took the 20's off my Ram a month or so ago and put 18's on it. Went from 96lbs each to 82lbs each. Bought 18" takeoffs for $800, sold the mostly worn 20's for $1200. Truck absolutely rides and drives better, and when it's time for new tires, I might be able to find a set for under a grand.

As far as Ford wheels, I really liked the stock 2017-2020ish 18" Lariat wheels:

And with a more aggressive sidewall:

You can pick up a set of takeoffs for under a grand:

And if chrome don't get ya home, they make em in silver too:

And if you don't like way those look, these are a little more spoke-y:

I have been looking for some for a good deal since my 07 is going to need tires soon, was thinking about a more modern 18 vs the 17s it has now. I just forgot to tell you to find me a deal! All the good take offs I could find where 2k!

I like Tremor wheels like this, but seems expensive for tires that are already half way gone and I don’t want to drive that far for them.

I’ve seen occasionally Level 4x4 advertising OEM takeoffs, I think it says they are in Charlotte or Matthews. Anybody heard of them?

Forgot to add I was thinking of going up a size. 275/70 R18 is what's there now.

Maybe it’s just me, but when I see these:

I see these.

I don't have any input worth giving on wheel size/style. It's all subjective in my opinion. Buy what you think looks best because you're the only one that really needs to like it.

As far as tires, I have a set of 10-ply Michelin LTX A/T2's on my F150. I know it's not a complete apples to apples comparison with a 1/2 ton vs. 3/4 or 1 ton truck. I bought them because that's what my local dealer was putting on the superdutys at the time, and I wanted something a little heavier duty for towing with my 150. I currently have 75k miles on these tires and lots of tread life left. Barring any catastrophes, I fully expect to get 100k out of these tires. I have never had a truck tire get me past 40k or 50k.

Got some prices on 295/70 R18 Falken Wildpeak AT4 Last week. Local tire shop I've used for years was sold and they quoted me $1700 out the door. Another local dealer was $1577 and my local Ford Dealership was $1475. I have another shop I'm going to get prices from.

I seent em myself and couldn't believe it.

I’ve ran those tires on previous trucks and they are pretty great. I didn’t get that much mileage from them, but that was my own fault for not rotating often enough.

I just put tires on the wife’s Grand Cherokee. Shopped around and fully expected the Jeep dealership to at least price match, but they were a couple hundred dollars more. They ended up matching the cost of the tires, but would not budge on the labor charge, which was still $100 more than other shops. So they didn’t get my business. I was actually shocked because you know they want to get you in so they can try to sell you on a blinker fluid flush and muffler bearing adjustment.

I keep them at 60 psi and the dealership rotates them every oil change. I’ll put another set on when they’re due for replacement, and that will hopefully be the last set of tires that thing will need.

I've got the OEM Bridgestone ATs on my F350. They're wearing evenly but more rapidly than I think they should. Traction is pretty bad and they cause some tail wag when bumper towing heavy.
Considering Falkens myself when I'm due.

Has anyone ran the Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs? A couple sets of Tremor wheels I’m looking at has those tires on them with about 10k miles but I’ve never heard much about them.

Haven’t ran Duratracs, but my current truck had Goodyear AT Adventure Kevlar tires when I got it and the wet traction was absolutely horrible, and dry traction was mediocre at best. I replaced them with Firestone Destination ATs and the difference was night and day. Also the Ram 1500 I previously had was shod with Goodyear Wrangler GS-As I believe and they were even worse. When I took it on the test drive on wet roads, I nearly slid through the first stop sign I came to, and I wasn’t even driving hard. It spun the tires constantly pulling out, even with only 240hp and partial throttle. All that to say I’m leery of Goodyears.

They came on my Chevy 2500 when I bought it. Left them on for 17k miles and replaced them. Will never own another set.

Duracraps were super popular among the broverlander crowd for a while. Then some influencer got a free set of something else and those became the new hotness.

I've run 2 sets of toyos (AT2 Extreme and AT3) on the Ram and now have a set of Yokohama X-AT's. Will be going back to Toyo or Falken next go round. While I love our Yokohama MT's on the TJ, the X-AT's are pure ass. The only upside is they clean out well so they've been good around the farm in wet seasons. Downside is they wear like shit and are loud. Not enough pros vs cons to get another set. We have another set of Toyo AT3's on our 4Runner and love them.
