time shares...is this a good idea?

What? I thought it was a particularly high interest rate?

+1

Ive got 3 or 4 credit cards I dont think any are over 7% and that one gives me cash back

Next time you're on an airplane, take a look at the pamphlet for the airline's credit cards where they give you 40k miles for signing up. Then you'll see high interest rates.

I typically steer clear of credit cards unless it's a good rate, no annual fee, and gives cash back. None of our cards are above 6.75%.

I floated about $3k for a couple years after my divorce on credit cards and never paid a dime over my original balance. I would apply for no transfer fee cards with the first year 0% interest. After 11 months I would switch cards and go again.

I had one of the Wyndham Resorts at Myrtle call me up (my "friend" apparently went to one and gave them my number) for a almost free 4 night vacation there and you get the pitch. I told the rep on the phone that I was in no position financially to purchase a timeshare, regardless of the price. She said that's ok, the sales people's actual signing quota is only around 10% of the total # presented and they are convinced that if I say 'no' I'll still tell my friends how much fun it was and convince them to go for the free vacation. I said "OK, sure why not". At the end of the presentation I told the same to the sales guy, his boss, his bosses boss, and then some dude that claimed to be top dawg. Then they asked me for contact info for any of my friends that might want to try it (light bulb moment). So I just reciprocated and gave them the above mentioned friend's contact info and went about my way. All-in-all it was a nice trip, even if the pitch was a bit over the top and annoying.
