Time to buy some new tires

Been awhile since I've been on here but have a question. It's time to buy some new tires for the runner. Any suggestions on who is giving the best deals these days on 33x12.50x15?

I'm currently running Mickey Thompsons Baja MTZ that were bought from Galloways about 3 years ago. I liked the Mickey's, however I didn't rotate them the way I should have and the road ate them up. Just curious about any other brand options or suppliers that give a decent deal around the Charlotte area. It would be nice to not have to shell out $1000 for a new set of tires. I thought about trying some BFG KM's but then your looking at $1000+. Are they worth the extra money?

My truck sees about 75% road and 25% offroad these days.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I think my next set are going to be Cooper STTs. I'm going for a 37x12.50-17.

Nothing wrong with the MTZ's, except maybe price. I am running them, 35's on my Toyota, and they have done everything as good, most cases better, then any other radial I have run. I have run Cooper STT's and they where a good tire that seemed to last longer on the road than most equivalent tires. I think that is because the rubber is a little harder but the slight downside to that is they slip just a bit on the rocks. My observations.

Unless something changed (and it's very possible since Cooper is no longer America owned) Cooper makes the off road tires for Mickey Thompson, ProComp, and they also make Master Craft and a few others.

I'd like to try some of the Mickey Thompson tires, but price is a big factor. I feel like you pay for the names a lot of the times....but when you find out they come from almost the same mold and they cost 100 bucks more per tire (just a number to make a point), it leaves a bad feeling in your wallet.

Also, (again could have changed by now) Michelin used to pretty much own BFG. They make great tires, but that would also explain their higher prices.

I had great experience with the Goodyear DuraTrac in that size. It is a very aggressive all-terrain tire but handled everything I ever put in front of it like a champ. The on road manners are fantastic especially in wet or snowy conditions.

Discount Tire had the best prices by far.

If you decide to buy Kelly, Dunlop or Good Year tires I have some associate coupons you can use. Only $20 off each but it's still something.

By the way I highly recommend the Good Year wrangler with Kevlar or Duratracs.

I'd love to get some of the new Goodyear hmmwv tires! It'd give me an excuse to get another set of rims.

I also love the duratrac's

A couple of weeks ago I bought 33x10.50x15 km2's off ebay for $188 each with free shipping. Not sure if they can still be found at that price, and I'm not sure if a 10.50 will suit your rig, but I couldnt pass them up at that price.

Give Rimzone a call in mooresville! They have shipping containers FULL of NIttos hence why they give such a good price. Consider the nitto trail grappler.

Thanks for all the feed back. I've thought about the Goodyears. My rig is definitely dual purpose and drives to and from the mountains frequently. I liked the Mickey's just not the price. I had some cheaper MudDawgs as my first set and they did ok for awhile but wore out kinda quick.

Main thing is trying to see who local is giving some decent deals on tires, mounting , etc. I looked at a couple of online places but seemed like after shipping it kinda balanced out.

Anyone ever tried the Treadwright Guard Dog M/T?

I've looked at these and read some good reviews....I'm considering, however, I'd have to get some new rims as they don't carry r15 sizes. Cheap steelies are fine with me but they still cost a little bit.

Thoughts or experiences?

Get the new goodyear MTR with Kevlar. They are great tires on and off road and they last much longer than the cheap tires.

They're nice tires, but expensive!

Call Bailey bros automotive off gibbon rd and tell them minarik sent you they will take care of you

sent by telegraph from my k30

I bought sum el dorado sport Mtz 33s on ebay a pretty good while back for $675 shipped I mounted them myself and they have been the smoothest riding 33s I've ever had. If I ever buy new mud tires again it will be those. That's just my thoughts and it might not be the type of price you had in mind but they were well worth the money. It's been over a year and a half, maybe two years and they have very little wear on them and they are on my daily driver. These tires have aggressive tread and work well off road as well.

If you buy The MT/R's I can get ya some mail-in coupons for $20 off each.

Not much i know but it's all the company gives us :shaking:

I think @MarsFab can get some crazy deals on the General Grabbers and from what ve seen they hold up really well.
