tips on fanaggilin a barn jeep for cheap

so its that time of year again (just pre-holidays) to hit up the dude at my hunting land that has a barn scrambler just sitting there collecting dust. I know absolutely nothing about it other than it looks complete and has a hard top. I have a complete 350tbi/700/300 drivetrain here at the house, so it doesnt even need to run. whats the best way to get this guy interested in selling cheap? Ive never spoken directly to him, so I dont know what Im working with. any idea of price point?

Really! That long?! Wow It would take some work to get her back in shape. I'd say sitting there that long, every seal in it will spring a leak. It'll take a lot of time and sweat, but, I think I could do it over a period of about a year.

No, I don't want to restore it like a show Jeep. the value just really isn't out there for those. I am just one of those Jeep guys that like to be a little different.

Hmmm the frame is flaking some rust, and dang that back divider is rusting too, but oh well, might be worth it, might not................What would you have to have for it?
 
Take 15 $100 dollar bills. Ask him if he wants to trade.
