i have about 10 tires that I need to get rid of. Where can I take them? Tired of getting attacked by mosquitos everytime I admire my parts stash.

Check the local dump. Often they will take them from residential customers for free or a small fee in small quantities. I know the place in Forsythe County used to, but only 4-5 at a time... but nothing prevented you from going 2 days in a row...

north charlotte landfill takes them

My local tire shop takes my used tires for free. He makes up for it in my repeat business. Most people seem to leave them on the side of the road in my neck of the woods.

Gaston county landfill or recycling centers take 5 per person per day. Also, I think theres a CharMeck place on Rozzelles Ferry that takes tires. North of 85 and south of 27. Can't remember exactly where and I'm too lazy to look.

I just put about 6 sets out on the street last week lol. Everything from 215s I brought home when a chick I know was getting new tires and didnt feel like paying the shop disposal fee, to bald 37s. The trash crew about threw a fit when they rode by. We have twice a year "clean sweeps" in my area where one day only they'll pick up anything, no questions asked. There was two truckloads at my place alone. I still want to turn a junk car upside down out there next time and sit back with a camera. :lol:
"Mann what da hell?!?!"

Goggle "Char/Meck Recycling Center Locator". Use the "Selector" as to home owner, rubber, tires, & about 4 sites will pop up on a map.
Matt is probably speaking of the new one on Valley Dale. {West Side}
I would call before you go, just to be sure they don't require a certain amount of recyclables, or Credit Card, to accept the tires.

I took 25 to the Craven County Landfill about a month ago. Didn't cost me a dime. That 2 dollar fee that's included is what pays for the tire disposal....I didn't buy a single one of the tires I got rid of, so that was even better!

They used to do a free day for tires once a year here in McDowell County but I that is no more. Now it is 5 free a year for residents...then $2 each after that. Last time I took some, I ended up bringing home two 33 x 14.50 Super Swamper SSR's that I turned around and sold on Craigslists for $140 :lol:.

Do they actually track it over time though?
They say the same thing here, but don't keep any record of it by person, address, etc. Frankly that's too much of a pain in the butt. So there's nothing preventing you from just going multiple times, aside from some asshole worker saying, "hey didn't did you this last week?" to which you reply, "Nope, must have been my cousin."

I'm sure they do here...either way I'm hauling my 5, my wife will haul her 5 , and if I need to my 4 yr old will haul his 5 :D.
