tire opinion

I think your best bet is BFG AT. I've been running them on my DDs for years.

I would suggest that you check out the Nitto Terra Graplers. They handle great, and are not noisy. My friend had the BFG All-Terrain, and they were a little loud for me. I got a lot of miles on my first set, so when it was time to replace them, I didn't hesitate to buy another set. They are not expensive either.

opinions are like @$$holes :poop:....even tire opinions!

Back to the tire life. I can only speak on BFG's and Coopers. They do seem to get good mileage among the off-road product line. On a lighter vehicle (if you take care of them) expect 40k + on a set of BFG's. Probably closer to low 30's with a heavier vehicle.

how about those new bfg km2's?

I like BFGs A/T. Had them on every truck I've had and never even got a flat. (Knock on wood), Outstanding snow tire too. (Not that we see tons of snow).

had bfg M/T's, dueler M/T's, and dueler a/t's
The AT's are nice tires, the bfg's on my truck have been on there for 2 YEARS and are still running stong with bout half tread left, i have probably put 30k on them.
pretty much go with what you want, and what you like.

check out the super swamper trxus m/t. Ride good, not too loud, great siping from the factory, wear good for a m/t, and tough.

I'll 2nd that. I went from the trxus to a set of bfg mt's and regretted it. Ran them on my DD/trail toy for a few years and they wore great with minimal noise, priced well, and did everything I tried at URE.

i had a set of maxxis bighorns. they were well priced, performed very well and i got a lot of miles out of them.

bfg at's are horrible and the mudders aren't great in mud. my opinion.

If you can go an A/T route, look into Michelin LTX A/T

They are a Sams only tire.
Carry an "E"-rating.
Are decent off road, and I have gotten 90k + out of 2 sets of them on a F250

trxs vs. goodyear mtr?
I ran a set of 35's trXus mt's 3 years back and I currently have a set of 37" gy mtr's. I'd say the mtr's hook up better on the rocks. I was surprised by how well they did on the wet rocks at Tellico recently. They are pretty much equal in road noise, with the mtr's being a touch more quiet. The mtr's did great on drives long drives this summer from Concord to Ocracoke, then Concord to Tellico. When my bronco was a DD, I drove the trXus 700+ miles into NY regularly and they wore very well with regular rotation. The trXus were awesome on the road in wet/snowy/icy conditions. They have a lot of siping which helps in the inclement weather. I can't comment on the mtr's in those conditions as I've only ever had them on the road, beach, or trail, never in winter...yet.

Overall, it may just come down to $$. The trXus will save you money and give you just about equal performance on and off road. That's my .02

Pics of both if you care...

go with the BFG Muds. I put them on my TJ in spring of 2004and it is just about time that i replace them. I dont know how many miles there are on them but it is a daily driver and i only balanced them 2 mabey 3 times. They have proven themselves to me on the trail and have had pretty good street manners
