do tire places still patch tires from the inside? After I replaced the valve stem that had been tore out, I found a 1/2" cut in the center of the tread, between the blocks.

Merchants tire does, idk if thats too big though.

They use plug/patches, patch inside, pull plug through.

Alot of places still do, most of them call it Vulcanizing. I prefer the inside patch to plugs, as inserting plugs, can do more damage, sometimes to the cord, & don't always hold. If an auto tire store, thinks the hole/cut, is too large, try some Truck tire shops. They have, what they call, a Boot patch. Harder to balance, but may save a tire. Good luck!:driver:

I work at a used, tire shop and we patch all day a gash usually is done with a plug patch that is a 2inch diamater and has a plug that you, pull through the hole usually running 20 to 25 bucks de pending where you go

We use only big truck tire shops. They are creative in saving expensive tires and have some massive patches. Some will even still light the patch to burn it in, not quite vulcanizing but close.
