tire question

been hearing conflicting things..... i have 285/75/16 tires on my truck, (04 chevy 2500 HD gas motor) they are about wore out, i'm thinking about going down an inch or 2 in tire size to gain a little MPG back.... but some people tell me the smaller tires will not increase MGP, i don't agree with them.....BUT i could be wrong! FWIW the truck came from the factory with 245/75-16 tires.... what would be a good inbetween size??

265/75/16 would be a good inbetween size. I have an 07 Duramax- it came with the 245s. I put 265s on it and my mileage did go down just slightly. Looks much better with the 265s than it did with the 245s.
