Need some new tires for the wife's 2012 Toyota Highlander. They don't need to be fancy but want something good all season/touring, quiet and good mileage. They are P245/55R19. Any suggestions?

Thanks, any idea what to expect to pay for the Michelin's?
Have you had those on a similar vehicle, if so do you know how many miles you actually got out of them?
Thanks again

Have you been happy with the tires that came on it? Toyo should be a great tire, as well as Michelin, & Continental. No idea of prices, other than Toyo is probably more affordable. I'd probably shop Discount Tire for a Good Package deal.

I can never seem to get the advertised tread life out of Michelins...buy a 60k tire, get 40-45k out of them. I've been putting some variant of the Bridgestone ecopia's on my Lincoln and my wife's edge for about 4-5 years now and can get a good even wear to 60-65k. Pretty sure I use the Turanza's on the Lincoln and the Duelers on the Edge.

I would not recommend the Michelin LTXs. We had a set, the sidewalls had severe cracking after about 3yrs, and they were bald in 40k miles. I think they were supposed to be a 65k tire.

Got a set of Coopers now. They're right at a year old, still look new.

I tend to see alot of the michelins with dry rot.

Thanks again for some quick feedback. I'm kind of zeroing in a set of Cooper Evolution HT's.

My mom had a set of Cooper something-or-other HT's on her VW Touareg and she was really pleased with them. I came in here to recommend those. They were some of the cheapest ones in the size she needed, were smooth and quiet, and treadwear was great up until VW bought it back.

Interesting. I've had great experience with Michelin LTX-M/S tires. they had over 70k when i sold an explorer and prob had another 10k or so tread left. My parents put over 90k on a set on an expedition, and sold it with the second set. A friend is on his second set on a honda Pilot. Not sure of the mileage. Thats my experience, but YMMV (literally). I know of a few other examples but cant confirm mileage, cant say I recall any horror stories though.

I've had 2 sets of Michelin LTX M/S's that had cracking and dryrot while they still had half tread left. Fortunately, Michelin prorated the first set, and after the second set, I swore to never buy them again.

This happened to my girlfriends mom a while back. Set of Michelin tires that were 2 years old, with around 20k miles would not pass inspection because of all the cracks.
It's rare that I see Michelin tires on any cars at auction that are more than half worn, and dont have massive amounts of dry rot.

Must depend on where they were built, er, which Country. I ran through 2 sets on my last pick up, but that has been several years back. Never saw cracking, but the first set after getting close to the wear bars, the tread appeared to turn Hard. They Quit wearing! Drove fine on a dry road, but a wet road, was like driving on ice. I gave that set to a guy at work, that couldn't afford tires. He rode on them for 2 more years! The second set, though not worn as much, Seemed headed the same way. I sold the truck & don't know what the new owner has done.

Some of the differences in experience has to be due to condition/environment the vehicle is stored in, how heavy the vehicle is, whether it's city driving with lots of turns or straight highway, things like that. That being said, I can never justify paying twice as much for michelins than some other brand just "because michelin". If it's comparable price, then I would consider them.

Fixed it. I rarely buy new tires ever. I'm perfectly fine paying 25% of new tire price for 50-75% new tire tread.

As long as the DOT date isn't too old, I'm definitely ok with that, especially for A/T's or M/T's that are already going to be loud and ride like they ride. On a daily/commuter I will usually pony up for some fresh mid grade rubber. Plus most of us know someone who works at a dealership or tire place or know a guy who knows a guy that can get new stuff cheap.
